Government J. Buana College
Government J. Buana College is a college in the town of Lunglei, Mizoram. It is accredited with a B Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It has 582 students and 40 faculty members. History Government J. Buana College was established on 26 August, 1983. The college is named after J. Buana who was a Padma Shree awardee. He donated rupees two lakhs for its establishment and management. The college caters to the needs of the locality and the poorer section for higher education. The college was provincialized in 1976 by the Government of Mizoram. Education In Mizoram
Education in Mizoram consists of a diverse array of formal education systems ranging from elementary to university, from training institution to technical courses. The Government of India imposes mandatory education at least up to the basic level. For this public schools are made free of fees, and provided with free textbooks and school lunch. The first formal education was started in 1894 by two British Christian Missionaries at Aizawl. They taught only two select students whom they could trust for further teaching and their own evangelism. The first government school was started in 1897 at Aizawl. The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government sector public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Serkawn
Sêrkâwn is a village within Lunglei Administrative Block, Mizoram, India. It is continuous with Lunglei within 1 km area. It is 107 km from the state capital Aizawl. The place chosen by British missionaries, it is the home of Christianity and formal education in southern Mizoram. The oldest schools and hospital in southern Mizoram were established there. It still is the centre of administration of Baptist Church of Mizoram. The British used to call it (as a literal translation) "Lemonvale". The name is due to abundant lemon trees native to the place during the British occupation. It remained the principal centre of learning and music during the 20th century.
