The Government Engineering College, Bhuj (GECB) is an AICTE-accredited engineering College in Bhuj, Gujarat, India. It is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University. Degrees The college was established on 26 September 1994, initially with two branches: Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. It was initially affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. The college building was initially located in Polytechnic campus of Bhuj. In 2001 after major earth quake struck Bhuj, entire college and hostel building was damaged beyond repair, so the college students (399 in total) were shifted to L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. in 2003 students were shifted back to New Building ( Present Building). AICTE
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a statutory body, and a national-level council for technical education, under the Department of Higher Education. Established in November 1945 first as an advisory body and later on in 1987 given statutory status by an Act of Parliament, AICTE is responsible for proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education and management education system in India. Bhuj
Bhuj () is a Municipality and District Headquarters of Kutch District in the state of Gujarat, India. Etymology According to legend, Kutch was ruled by the Nāga chieftains in the past. Sagai, a queen of Sheshapattana, who was married to King Bheria Kumar, rose up against Bhujanga, the last chieftain of Naga. After the battle, Bheria was defeated and Queen Sagai committed sati. The hill where they lived later came to be known as Bhujia Hill and the town at the foothill as Bhuj. Bhujang was later worshiped by the people as snake god, '' Bhujanga'', and a temple was constructed to revere him. History Bhuj was founded by Rao Hamir in 1510 and was made the capital of Kutch by Rao Khengarji I in 1549. Gujarat Technological University (International Innovative University), commonly referred as ''GTU'', is a state university affiliating many engineering, pharmacy, and management colleges in Gujarat state, India. The university is headed by the state government and came into existence on 16 May 2007. Engineering institutes such as Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering, Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya, Vishwakarma Government Engineering College and many Government Engineering Colleges are a part of GTU.
