Goregrind
Goregrind is a fusion genre of grindcore and death metal. British band Carcass are commonly credited for the emergence of the genre. Goregrind is recognized for its heavily edited, pitch shifted "watery"-sounding vocals and abrasive musicianship rooted in grindcore. Dead Infection
Dead Infection was a Polish goregrind band, that was founded in 1990 by Cyjan, and Domin (ex members of grindcore band Front Terror). Since their formation, the band has released a few full-length albums, and 7-inch EPs. They are the second band from Poland after Vader that made a deal to release a CD/LP with a non-European label. Their second album, ''A Chapter Of Accidents'', is considered by many to be among the milestones of goregrind music. They played numerous live shows around the world, including all of Europe, the United States, South America, Mexico, Japan. In February 2020, Cyjan died, which led to the group's disbandment. ''Reek of Putrefaction'' is the debut album by British extreme metal band Carcass. It was released by Earache Records in July 1988. Background When released, ''Reek of Putrefaction'' reached No. 6 on the UK Indie Chart, establishing Carcass as one of the pioneers of the grindcore genre. The late BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel declared it his favourite album of 1988, in an interview for British newspaper ''The Observer''. It is one of the first albums to use sound segments from horror films as intros for their songs (the title itself refers to the same named Italian cannibal movie by Ruggero Deodato). Impetigo was an American death metal band. They were among the first bands to use clips from films and other media as intros for their songs. Pitch shifting is a sound recording technique in which the original pitch of a sound is raised or lowered. Effects units that raise or lower pitch by a pre-designated musical interval ( transposition) are called pitch shifters. Pitch and time shifting The simplest methods are used to increase pitch and reduce durations or, conversely, reduce pitch and increase duration. This can be done by replaying a sound waveform at a different speed than it was recorded. It could be accomplished on an early reel-to-reel tape recorder by changing the diameter of the capstan or using a different motor.
