Gordon Dale
Gordon Dale (20 May 1928 — 14 March 1996) was an English footballer who played as a left winger. Career Upon leaving school, Dale signed for hometown club Worksop Town. In February 1948, Chesterfield signed Dale for £500. On 12 March 1949, after spending time in Chesterfield's reserves, Dale made his debut for the club in a 2–1 defeat against Fulham. On 27 June 1951, following Chesterfield's relegation from the 1950–51 Second Division, First Division side Portsmouth signed Dale for £20,000, becoming Portsmouth's record transfer fee at the time, as well as Chesterfield's record outgoing transfer. Dale only made eight appearances during his first season with Portsmouth, due to injuries. In the 1954–55 season, Dale appeared in more than half of Portsmouth's fixtures for the first time in his career with the club. On 25 October 1957, Dale signed for Exeter City for a fee of £5,000. Worksop
Worksop ( ) is a market town in the Bassetlaw District in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located east-south-east of Sheffield, close to Nottinghamshire's borders with South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, on the River Ryton and not far from the northern edge of Sherwood Forest. Other nearby towns include Chesterfield, Doncaster, Retford, Gainsborough and Mansfield. Worksop had a population of 41,820 as of the 2011 Census and it is twinned with the German town Garbsen. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 84 clubs which are divided into four divisions. The Central and South Divisions are at step 3 of the National League System (NLS), and are feeder divisions, mainly to the National League South but also to the National League North.
