Google Maps Road Trip
''Google Maps Road Trip'' was a live-streaming documentary produced by Marc Horowitz and Peter Baldes between August 10 and August 18, 2009. The event represented the first virtual live-streaming broadcast cross-country road trip: using only Google Maps, the pair drove from Los Angeles to Richmond, Virginia. They were interviewed by NPR Weekend Edition for their innovative "vacation". They were also mentioned in The New York Times, India's The Economic Times, The Faster Times and Readymade Magazine's blog. They streamed live on ustream.tv. Marc Horowitz (born July 19, 1976, Columbus, Ohio) is an American artist who works in a large variety of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, performance and video. Biography Marc Horowitz is a Los Angeles-based artist working in painting, performance, video, photography, sculpture, and social practice. He combines traditional drawing and painting styles, commercial photography, and new media to explore entertainment, class, commerce, failure, success, and personal meaning. At age seventeen, he attended Indiana University Bloomington, receiving his degree in Business Marketing and Microeconomics. He went on to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, where he studied painting. He completed a Master of Fine Arts at The University of Southern California in 2012. Prior to IBM acquisition, it had more than 180 employees across San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Budapest offices. Psy-Geo-Conflux
Psy-Geo-Conflux (better known as Conflux) is an annual New York City festival dedicated to psychogeography, where visual, performance and sound artists, writers, urban adventurers, researchers and the public gather for four days to explore the physical and psychological landscape of the city. Founding Conflux was co-founded by David Mandl of the Brooklyn Psychogeographical Association and Glowlab's Christina Ray. The first Psy-Geo-Conflux event was held in May 2003 at ABC No Rio in New York.
