''Good Day!'' (originally known as ''Good Morning!'', and alternately known in later years as ''The Good Day Show'' and ''Good Day! Live'') is an American morning television program which aired from September 24, 1973 until October 11, 1991. Produced by WCVB-TV in Boston, ''Good Day!'' aired on that local ABC affiliate for its entire 18 years of production, airing in various timeslots (which changed throughout the years) between 9 and 11 a.m. on WCVB's morning schedule. The program was later syndicated to seventy-one American television markets, expanding its viewership beyond its primary New England viewer base. ''Good Day!'' is credited for being one of the prototypes for ABC's ''Good Morning America'', as its format, which combined news and information with talk and lifestyle features, was adopted by the subsequent national ABC morning television program, and eventually by its competitors on CBS, NBC, and on other networks. Janet Leola Langhart Cohen (née Floyd; born December 22, 1941) is an American television journalist and anchor, and author. Beginning her career as a model, she started in television reporting the weather. She serves as president and CEO of Langhart Communication. She is the spouse of former Defense Secretary William Cohen. She has written two memoirs, one with her husband. In June 2009, her one-act play '' Anne and Emmett,'' inspired by the lives of Anne Frank and Emmett Till, premiered at the United States Holocaust Museum. ''AM America'' was a morning news program produced by ABC in an attempt to compete with the highly rated ''Today'' on NBC. Premiering on January 6, 1975, the show never found an audience against ''Today'' or the CBS combo of the ''CBS Morning News'' and ''Captain Kangaroo''. ''You Asked for It'' is a human interest television show created and hosted by Art Baker. Initially titled ''The Art Baker Show'', the program originally aired on American television between 1950 and 1959. Later versions of the series were seen in 1972, 1981, and 2000. On the show, viewers were asked to send in postcards describing something that they wanted to see on television, such as the reenactment of William Tell shooting an apple off his son's head. (1950 US national archery champion Stan Overby performed the feat, shooting an apple off his assistant's head.) The show was originally broadcast live, so some of the riskier propositions took on added elements of danger and suspense. Miss America
Miss America is an annual competition that is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 25. Originating in 1921 as a "bathing beauty revue", the contest is now judged on competitors' talent performances and interviews. As of 2018, there is no longer a swimsuit portion to the contest, or consideration of physical appearance. Miss America travels about 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours, touring the nation and promoting her particular platform of interest. ''America Alive!'' was an American television talk-variety program created by Woody Fraser. The show had a brief run on NBC, which aired it as part of its weekday daytime programming schedule from July 24, 1978, until January 4, 1979. Fred Silverman (September 13, 1937 – January 30, 2020) was an American television executive and producer. He worked as an executive at all of the Big Three television networks, and was responsible for bringing to television such programs as ''Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!''
