Youngberg, Arizona
Youngberg is a populated place situated in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. History Originally called Goldfield due to the nearby gold mines, The Goldfield Post Office was established on October 7, 1893, with James L Patterson as its first Postmaster.Granger, Byrd H., Arizona's Names (X Marks the Place). Tucson: The Falconer Publishing Company, 1983. p. 692 This was the same year that George U. Young arrived. After his arrival, the community also became known as Youngsberg. After a mining accident at his Goldfield mining operation, Young experienced a severe decline in his health, starting from about 1920 on, and in late 1925 he was rendered an invalid. He died from apparent apoplexy on November 26, 1926, at his vacation home near the Derby Mine. Eastern Goldfields
The Eastern Goldfields is part of the Western Australian Goldfields in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, covering the present and former gold-mining area east of Perth. Extent and name origin The region encompasses the towns of Kalgoorlie, Boulder, Coolgardie, Kambalda, Southern Cross and other smaller settlements within this area. The name is derived in two parts: ''Eastern'' in relation to its location from Perth, and ''Goldfields'' as the name suggests comes from the mining of gold in the region. Goldfields is a computer game for children which simulates 'life on the diggings' during a 19th-century gold rush. Beginning with a concept by Trevor Jacob, it was developed and published by Jacaranda Software in Australia in 1986. It was first released for Apple II, BBC Micro, Commodore 64 and IBM compatible systems. The first Macintosh version was later developed using Hypercard. The original ''Goldfields'' package contained a disk, teacher's guide, four black-line masters and a copy of ''A Goldfields Journal'' or ''A Guide to Prospective Gold Seekers''. A review in ''Australian Educational Computing'' magazine described it as 'a particularly useful package, adaptable to a number of levels in both upper primary and secondary social science classes.'
