Gold Mountain Records was a record label based in New York. It was distributed by A&M Records between 1983 and 1985. After 1985, the distributor was MCA Records. In 1985, the president of the label was Danny Goldberg. A&M Records was an American record label founded as an independent company by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss in 1962. MCA Records
MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records. MCA was forced to exit the talent agency business in order to complete the merger. As American Decca owned Universal Pictures, MCA assumed full ownership of Universal and made it into a top film studio, producing several hits. Bruce Douglas Cockburn ( ; born May 27, 1945) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist. His song styles range from folk to jazz-influenced rock and his lyrics cover a broad range of topics including human rights, environmental issues, politics, and Christianity. Cockburn has written more than 350 songs on 34 albums over a career spanning 50 years, of which 22 have received a Canadian gold or platinum certification as of 2018, and he has sold over one million albums in Canada alone. Keel (band)
Keel is an American heavy metal band founded in 1984 in Los Angeles, California. They are best known for their rock anthem "The Right to Rock". The band was active until 1989, with a brief reunion in 1998. Keel reunited again in 2008 and toured in 2009 for their 25th anniversary. Carla Olson (born July 3, 1952) is a Los Angeles-based songwriter, performer and record producer. Biography Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Olson moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1978 where she formed the Textones, whose debut album ''Midnight Mission'' entered the ''Billboard'' 200. Carla is multi lingual. She served as a French translator for Malian legend Ali Farka Toure. She also speaks Italian, Japanese and Swedish. An early version of the Textones consisting of Olson, Kathy Valentine, Markus Cuff, and David Provost, played the late 1970s punk/new wave scene in Los Angeles and toured the US and Europe. They also released an EP in the UK and a single in the US. Gold Castle Records
Gold Castle Records was an American record label. It was co-owned by music industry veteran Danny Goldberg and Julian Schlossberg (co-producer/co-director of the live music film '' No Nukes''). The label's name is formed from the first halves of each of the co-founders' surnames: "Gold" from Goldberg and "Castle" from Schlossberg, Schloss being the German word for castle. The general manager of Gold Castle was Paula Jeffries, a former executive at Windham Hill. Its records were distributed by PolyGram, then CEMA of EMI. The label's roster included Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary, Eliza Gilkyson, and Eric Andersen. Most of them were without record deals before signing to Gold Castle. Don McLean had two albums on the label in 1989 and 1990. Although most of the artists were established, one Greenwich Village 1980s folk act, the Washington Squares, released two records.
