Going South (book)
''Going South'' is a 2021 memoir and photo-book by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde. The book documents her experience visiting the continent of Antarctica for a week in January 2019, with accompanying photos taken by New Zealand photographer Harriet Were. All proceeds from the book were used to fund a postgraduate scholarship created by Antarctica New Zealand, a government agency. Background & release O'Connor expressed an interest in exploring the region of Antarctica from an early age, noting an excursion to an aquarium as a child and learning about the Terra Nova Expedition as particularly sparking her interest. Lorde
Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor (born 7 November 1996), known professionally as Lorde ( ), is a New Zealand singer-songwriter. Taking inspiration from aristocracy for her stage name, she is known for her unconventional musical styles and introspective songwriting. Lorde expressed interest in performing at local venues in her early teens. She signed with Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2009 and collaborated with producer Joel Little in 2011 to start recording music. "Solar Power" is a song by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde for her third studio album of the same name. The song was written and produced by Lorde and Jack Antonoff and was released on 11 June 2021 by Universal Music New Zealand as the album's lead single, after being announced on Lorde's website alongside the message "Patience is a virtue". The song also briefly leaked hours before its release and was pushed forward from its initial release date, 20 June. Musically, "Solar Power" is an indie folk, pop, psychedelic, and sunshine pop song. The song received positive reviews from critics, who praised the summer-like sound of the song as well as its departure from Lorde's previous works. ''Solar Power'' is the third studio album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde. It was released on 20 August 2021, by Universal Music New Zealand. Lorde wrote and produced the album with American musician Jack Antonoff, with whom she also worked on her second studio album, '' Melodrama'' (2017). The album was preceded by '' Going South'', a June 2021 memoir documenting Lorde's 2019 visit to Antarctica, which she dubbed as the precursor to the album. Scott Base
Scott Base is a New Zealand Antarctic research station at Pram Point on Ross Island near Mount Erebus in New Zealand's Ross Dependency territorial claim. It was named in honour of Captain Robert Falcon Scott, RN, leader of two British expeditions to the Ross Sea area of Antarctica.
