Gohine Shobdo
''Gohine Shobdo'' ( bn, গহীনে শব্দ) is a 2010 Bangladeshi drama film directed by Khalid Mahmood Mithu. Set during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, the film focuses on a love couple and beggars and stars Mamnun Hasan Emon, Kusum Sikder, Masum Aziz, and Abul Hayat. It was released on 26 March 2010 by Impress Telefilm and won the Best Feature Film at the Third World Independent Film Festival in the United States. Plot Nura is a street beggar. During the 1971 liberation war in Bangladesh, one of his legs became paralyzed. The Razakars attacked him, subsequently making him a crippled man. As a father, he has familial obligations that he could not abandon: he begs in the streets through rain and shine to make his dream a reality — to ensure that his daughter, Swapna, completes her education as a university student. Khalid Mahmood Mithu
Khalid Mahmood Mithu (1960 – March 7, 2016) was a Bangladeshi film director and painter. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director for his direction of the film '' Gohine Shobdo'' (2010). Background and career Mithu was born in Dhaka in 1960. His mother, Begum Momtaz Hossain Mithu, was a ''scriptwriter''. He was the nephew of the film director Alamgir Kabir. Mithu completed his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka in 1986. He directed his play, ''Dhusor Album'', in 1993. In 2010, he directed the film, '' Gohine Shobdo'', which earned him the national film award. His second film, '' Jonakir Alo'', was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2014, but was not nominated.
