Godiego Songs
are a Japanese rock band, consisting of keyboardist and composer Mickie Yoshino, vocalist Yukihide Takekawa, guitarist Takami Asano and Yoji Yoshizawa, bassist Steve Fox, and drummer Tommy Snyder. Over their 40-year career (with hiatuses), Godiego released 27 singles and 55 albums in Japan, with lyrics written variably in English by longtime collaborator lyricist Yoko Narahashi. They are perhaps best known for performing the song " Monkey Magic" for the 1978 television series ''Saiyūki'' which was brought over to the United Kingdom as ''Monkey''. This led to several releases through BBC Records, including "Monkey Magic", "Gandhara", and the LP ''Monkey'' and several of their records charted in the UK. Their theme from ''The Water Margin'' was their sole UK Top 40 hit. Godiego are also known for performing the theme song "THE GALAXY EXPRESS 999" for the ''Galaxy Express 999'' film and the soundtrack for the 1977 film ''House''. Monkey (TV Series)
, also known by its English title ''Monkey'', is a Japanese television drama based on the 16th-century Chinese novel ''Journey to the West'' by Wu Cheng'en. Filmed in Northwest China and Inner Mongolia, the show was produced by Nippon TV and and broadcast from 1978 to 1980 on Nippon TV. Plot summary , the title character, is described in the theme song as being "born from an egg on a mountain top", a stone egg, and thus he is a stone monkey, a skilled fighter who becomes a brash king of a monkey tribe, who, the song goes on to claim, was "the punkiest monkey that ever popped". ''Soul Blazer'', released in Japan as , is a video game for the Super NES developed by Quintet and published by Enix. ''Soul Blazer'' was scored by Yukihide Takekawa. It was released in 1992 in Japan and North America, but not released in Europe until 1994. It is an action role-playing game where the player takes the role of The Master's servant, to destroy monsters and release the captured souls of a world's inhabitants. The servant can be named by the player; however, in a later game developed by Quintet, ''Illusion of Gaia'', he is referred to as "Blazer". Gameplay The player frees a series of towns by fighting monsters in traditional dungeon crawl battles. Destroying monster lairs in the dungeons causes a soul belonging to a former town occupant to be liberated and reincarnated.
