Luigi Batzella
Luigi Batzella (San Sperate, 1924 – San Sperate, 2008) also known as Paolo Solvay was an Italian film director, editor, screenwriter and actor. He made numerous low-budget genre films. Life and career Luigi Batzella was born in San Sperate, Sardinia in 1924. After what film historian and critic Roberto Curti described as "a nondescript career as an actor," Batzella began his career as a director in 1966 with the war film '' Tre franchi die pietà''. After directing a few low budget westerns, Batzella directed his first horror film ''The Devil's Wedding Night'' which was directed with an uncredited Joe D'Amato. Following the release of his next horror film ''Nude for Satan'' in 1978, Batzella directed two Nazisploitation films ''Kaput Lager – Gli ultimi giorni delle SS'' and ''La Bestia in calore'' for which he was credited as Ivan Kathansky. Spaghetti Western
The Spaghetti Western is a broad subgenre of Western films produced in Europe. It emerged in the mid-1960s in the wake of Sergio Leone's film-making style and international box-office success. The term was used by foreign critics because most of these Westerns were produced and directed by Italians. Leone's films and other core Spaghetti Westerns are often described as having eschewed, criticized, or even "demythologized" many of the conventions of traditional U.S. Westerns. This was partly intentional and partly the context of a different cultural background. Krista Nell (1946–1975) was an Austrian film actress. Born Doris Kristanel, Krista Nell debuted in French cinema, then moved to Rome where became a minor starlet in Italian genre films, especially Spaghetti Westerns and commedie sexy all'italiana."Decameroticus", ''Nocturno Dossier'' n.56, March 2007, p.10 Nell went on to star in such films as '' Ivanhoe, the Norman Swordsman'', and Spaghetti Westerns such as '' Paid in Blood'', '' Blindman'', '' Kill Django... Donal "Donald" O'Brien (15 September 1930 – 29 November 2003) was an Irish film actor, film and television actor. In his near 40-year career, O'Brien appeared in dozens of stage performances and in more than 60 film and television productions. O'Brien made his feature film debut in 1953 with Anatole Litvak's war drama ''Act of Love (1953 film), Act of Love''. He studied acting in Dublin and initially joined the Gate Theatre at age 19 before making the transition to film several years later. Gianfranco Clerici (; born 29 July 1941) is an Italian writer of numerous screenplays for Italian film and television productions. He has collaborated with several directors of exploitation cinema, including Lucio Fulci and Ruggero Deodato. Many of his scripts went on to become controversial films. Biography Clerici was born in Bergamo. He began his career writing genre films, such as spy thrillers (popularized by the James Bond series) and spaghetti westerns. As genre films fell out of favor with audiences, he moved on to writing giallo films, including ''Don't Torture a Duckling'' and later ''The New York Ripper'', both directed by Lucio Fulci. He also wrote several crime films, including ''Blazing Magnums'' and ''Weapons of Death''. Attilio Dottesio (16 July 1909 – 12 February 1989) was an Italian film character actor and singer. He appeared in 170 films between 1940 and 1985. Born in Brescia, Dottesio began his career in France, where first he obtained some success as a pop singer and later debuted as an actor in the film ''The Pearls of the Crown'' directed by Sacha Guitry. Back in Italy, he attended the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, then he began an intense career as a character actor.
