Go Se-tae
Go Se-taeSpelled Ko Se Te in contemporary sources. See e.g. (; 1925 – 22 April 1986) was a South Korean basketball player who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics. He graduated from Kaesong Songdo Middle School,. Kaesong was captured by North Korea during the Korean War, and the school moved to Incheon. and went on to attend Korea University. In 1952 he was in military service and played for the Military Manpower Administration basketball team. He later played for the Korea Development Bank team. After his appearance at the Olympics, he became a director of the Korea Basketball Association, and was one of the few directors who did not join the mass resignation after the South Korean team's poor performance at the 1964 Summer Olympics. Hyochang-dong is a ward of Yongsan-gu in Seoul, South Korea. History Hyochang-dong was named after a place called "Hyochangwon"(located in modern day Hyochang Park). Hyochangwon was the royal tomb of Crown Prince Munhyo, who was the first born of king Jeongjo of Joseon,which was originally located in Gyeonggido, Goyang county, Yulmokdong, which later changed to be part of modern day Hyochangdong Yongsan district.The tombs later moved to Goyang city, where the tombs of Seosamreung is located in. The town was also called hamabigye because it had a stele called the hamabi that requires anyone visiting to step down from a horse. Conscription In South Korea
Conscription in South Korea has existed since 1957 and requires male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to perform compulsory military service. Women are not required to perform military service, but they may voluntarily join the military. Establishment The basis for military conscription in South Korea is the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, which was promulgated on 17 July 1948. The constitution states in Article 39, "All citizens shall have the duty of national defense under the conditions as prescribed by Act." In addition, the conscription is defined and acted by the "Military Service Act" (병역법). According to the "Military Service Act" Article 3, "Every masculine gender of the Republic of Korea shall faithfully perform mandatory military service, as prescribed by the Constitution of the Republic of Korea and this Act.
