Go Away (Gloria Estefan Song)
"Go Away" is a song by Cuban American singer and songwriter Gloria Estefan. It was released in April 1993 as the fourth and last single worldwide and third to the United States from her fourth solo album and second compilation, ''Greatest Hits'' (1992). The song is much in the style of Estefan's earlier songs with the Miami Sound Machine. It was a club hit throughout Europe and America and was featured in the 1993 film '' Made in America'', starring Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson, and its soundtrack. It reached the UK Top 20 and US Dance Chart Top 5. On a November, 2020 episode of the TV show ''The View'', Estefan indicated that "Go Away" would be the perfect song for Donald Trump to dance to in a conga line leaving the White House. Gloria Estefan (; born Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García; born 1 September 1957) is a Cuban-American singer, actress, and businesswoman. Salsa music is a style of Latin American music. Because most of the basic musical components predate the labeling of salsa, there have been many controversies regarding its origin. Most songs considered as salsa are primarily based on son montuno, with elements of Mambo (music), mambo, Latin jazz, Bomba (Puerto Rico), bomba, plena and guaracha. All of these elements are adapted to fit the basic son montuno template when performed within the context of salsa. ''Record Mirror'' was a British weekly music newspaper between 1954 and 1991 for pop fans and record collectors. Launched two years after the ''NME'', it never attained the circulation of its rival. The first UK album chart was published in ''Record Mirror'' in 1956, and during the 1980s it was the only consumer music paper to carry the official UK singles and UK albums charts used by the BBC for Radio 1 and ''Top of the Pops'', as well as the US ''Billboard'' charts. James Hamilton (25 December 1942 – 17 June 1996) was a British DJ and dance music columnist for ''Record Mirror'', and later for ''Music Week'', where he worked until his death in 1996. He is recognised as a pioneering advocate of disco mixing in the UK and the addition of beats per minute (bpm) calculations to record reviews. Hamilton started as a DJ in his early 20s, playing rhythm & blues in a nightclubs in London. He then headed to New York to work for Seltaeb, the US company who’d acquired the merchandising rights for The Beatles, becoming a talent scout for their newly formed music division. After returning to the UK, he adopted the DJ name Doctor Soul, and also compiled an album with this title for Sue Records. "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" is a song written by Enrique "Kiki" Garcia and Gloria Estefan, and released by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine in 1987 as the lead single from the album '' Let It Loose'' (and the European version of the album ''Anything for You''). It was their fourth top 10 (and second top five) single on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at number five. In the UK, it took a year and a half for the single to become a chart hit. James Masterton (born 2 September 1973) is a music writer and columnist, his work focusing on the UK Singles Chart having been an online fixture on various sites since the 1990s. Masterton is also a producer for talkSPORT, and has worked on air as a presenter at the Bradford independent local radio station the Pulse. Music writing Masterton began posting his weekly comments about the latest singles chart on Usenet in 1992, while a student at Lancaster University, whence he graduated in 1994. In 1995 he became an important element of BT's Dotmusic website, an online hub for the UK music scene and one of the few sites that posted the entire UK top 75 every week.
