Gloria Dawn
Gloria Dawn (born July 27, 1940) was a Canadian model who appeared in numerous softcore men's magazines in the 1960s. She began her career in January 1962, and modeled for photographers Peter Gowland, Ron Vogel, Donald G. Klumpp, Sam Wu, Elmer Batters, and Keith Bernard among others. She retired from modeling in August 1963 but her pictures appeared in publications until 1968. In recent years, her photos have appeared in art books and in one volume of a series on the history of men's magazines. Ms. Dawn worked for eight months as a blond and usually “Gloria Dawn” was the name accompanying pictures taken of her as a blond. She worked for three months as a brunette and one month as a strawberry blond. In her brunette and her strawberry blond pictures, the name “Gloria Dawn” was never used. Softcore pornography or softcore porn, is commercial still photography or film that has a pornographic or erotic component but is less sexually graphic and intrusive than hardcore pornography, defined by a lack of visual sexual penetration. Peter Gowland
Peter Andrew Gowland (April 3, 1916 – March 17, 2010) was a famous American glamour photographer and actor. He was known for designing and building his own studio equipment and was active professionally for six decades with his business partner, Alice Beatrice Adams (''maiden''; 1920–2014), whom he married in 1941 and divorced in 1969. Career Gowland shot more than 1,000 magazine covers, mostly glamour shots of female models but also portraits of celebrities including Rock Hudson and Robert Wagner. His covers included ''Rolling Stone'', ''Playboy'', and ''Modern Photography''. He invented elite cameras and equipment that he used to shoot pinups and magazine covers. In the late 1950s, Gowland also invented the twin-lens Gowlandflex camera, which used 4-by-5 inch film for high-quality pictures. Elmer Albert Batters (November 24, 1919 – June 25, 1997) was a pioneer fetish photographer who specialized in capturing artful images of women with an emphasis on stockings, legs, and feet, placing him ahead of his time in popularizing foot fetishism imagery as erotic entertainment. Early life Batters was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the United States Navy on December 27, 1941 from Los Angeles, California. Hollywood Studio Club
The Hollywood Studio Club was a chaperoned dormitory, sometimes referred to as a sorority, for young women involved in the motion picture business from 1916 to 1975. Located in the heart of Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, the Studio Club was run by the YWCA and housed some 10,000 women during its 59-year existence. It was the home at various times to many Hollywood celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe, Ayn Rand, Donna Reed, Kim Novak, Maureen O'Sullivan, Rita Moreno, Barbara Eden, and Sharon Tate. The building was designed in the Italian Renaissance Revival architectural style by noted California architect Julia Morgan, who also designed Hearst Castle.
