Glenora Bears
The Glenora Bears are a rugby league football club based in Glen Eden, New Zealand who compete in Auckland Rugby League's Fox Memorial competition. History The club was established in 1931 Auckland Rugby League season, 1931 when the Auckland Rugby League Junior Management Committee accepted their application for membership in June of that year whereby they would enter a team in the Third Grade intermediate competition. Clubs had previously existed in the Glen Eden and New Lynn areas and played under those names. Glenora lost their first ever match versus Akarana 0–16 at Glen Eden. The club is based at Harold Moody Park in Glen Eden, New Zealand, Glen Eden. Tony Benson (rugby League)
Tony Benson (born 1965) is a rugby league coach from New Zealand. Coaching career New Zealand Benson coached Bartercard Cup team Hibiscus Coast Raiders from 2001 to 2005, as well as the Junior Kiwis team from 2003 to 2005. Great Britain Moving to Britain in September 2005, Benson took charge of Leigh Centurions. Leigh's relegation from Super League had been all but confirmed at the time of his appointment and he knew his task would be to lead the club back to the top. He replaced Darren Abram, who left the club in September 2005. In his only season in charge, Benson led the Centurions to cup glory, in the victory over Hull Kingston Rovers in the Northern Rail Cup final. Benson parted company with Leigh after the club's defeat by Batley Bulldogs in the 2006 RFL Championship, National League One playoffs. Robert Mincham is a New Zealand former rugby league footballer who represented New Zealand in the 1968 World Cup. His father, Ted, was also a New Zealand international, while his grandfather, William Mincham played for Auckland and later became a senior club, and international referee. Kelly Shelford
Kelly Shelford (born 4 May 1966) is a New Zealand rugby league player who represented New Zealand, including in Test matches that counted towards the 1992 World Cup. Playing career Shelford was a Manukau Magpies junior and played for the club in the Auckland Rugby League competition. In 1985 he won the Bert Humphries Memorial award as the most improved back in the competition. Shelford then switched clubs, joining the Glenora Bears. In 1988 he won the Tetley Trophy as the top try scorer in the competition and in 1989 he won the Rothville Trophy as the player of the year. In 1991 Shelford joined the Otahuhu Leopards. Shelford was also an Auckland representative and played for the New Zealand Māori side between 1986 and 1997. Dean Robert "Locust" Lonergan is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer, and current events promoter. He was the promoter of Jeff "The Hornet" Horn who won the WBO Welterweight World Championship against Manny Pacquiao in 2017. Dane Bradford Mark O'Hara is a New Zealand former rugby league footballer who represented New Zealand. At the time of his retirement he held the record for most international matches for New Zealand. Early years O'Hara attended St. Paul's College in Auckland and played for the Bay Roskill Vikings when they amalgamated in 1979. He toured Australia in 1973 with the Auckland under-23 side.
