Glenn Taylor (politician)
Glenn Taylor is a Canadian politician from Alberta. He was the leader of the Alberta Party and was mayor of Hinton from October 2004 to January 2012. Political career Taylor was a candidate for the Alberta New Democratic Party in 1997 in the riding of West Yellowhead, and in 2001 was elected to Hinton town council. In 2004 he was elected mayor and was re-elected in 2007 and 2010. He then sought the leadership of the Alberta Party, and was elected to that position on May 28, 2011, at the party's leadership convention with over 55% of the vote on the first ballot. Glenn Taylor is an Australian Logie Award-winning former television presenter. He is best known for co-anchoring ''Seven News'' on HSV-7 in Melbourne from 1988 to 1991 and ''Ten News'' on TVQ-10 in Brisbane from 1992 to 1998. Career Taylor commenced his media career at ABC Radio Adelaide in the late 1960's. He moved into television in the mid 1970's, appearing on the ABC's Adelaide television station ABS-2, presenting ''Today at One'' and reporting for ''This Day Tonight''. In 1979, he joined QTQ-9 in Brisbane where he hosted a local current affairs program called ''Today Tonight'' (unrelated to the Seven Network's ''Today Tonight'' of the same name which commenced in 1995). In 1980, Taylor was "poached" by rival Brisbane station BTQ-7 to host their own local current affairs program called '' State Affair''. Glen Allen Taylor (born April 20, 1941) is an American billionaire business magnate and politician from Minnesota. A self-made businessman, Taylor made his fortune from being the founder and owner of Minnesota-based Taylor Corporation, one of the largest graphic communication companies in the United States. Taylor has been the majority owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA basketball team since he purchased the team in 1994.
