Gleadless Townend is an outer city district of Sheffield centred on the junction of the ring road, White Lane (B6054) and Gleadless Road (B6388). Transport Gleadless Townend is served by several bus routes and two routes of the Sheffield Supertram light rail network, forming a minor transport interchange. Bus routes serving Gleadless Townend include First South Yorkshire's 18 and 51 routes and TM Travel's 252 service. Gleadless Townend tram stop is a Supertram stop on both the Blue and Purple routes. The City of Sheffield is a city and metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire, England. The metropolitan borough includes the administrative centre of Sheffield, the town of Stocksbridge and larger village of Chapeltown and part of the Peak District. Sheffield Outer Ring Road
Sheffield Outer Ring Road is one of two main routes circumventing Sheffield, England, a partial ring around Sheffield City Centre and its suburbs. Route It begins in Bradway as the B6054 Bradway Road, progressing anticlockwise as Greenhill Parkway, crossing the A61 Meadowhead/ Chesterfield Road South into the A6102 Bochum Parkway, which turns north, passing through Norton. Heading east again, at Lightwood, it becomes the dual-carriageway A6102 Norton Avenue. After intersecting with White Lane at Gleadless Townend and passing Gleadless Townend Supertram stop, it becomes Ridgeway Road. Sheffield Supertram
The Sheffield Supertram is a tram and tram-train network covering Sheffield and Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England. The infrastructure is owned by the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE), with Stagecoach responsible for the operation and maintenance of rolling stock under a concession until 2024, under the brand name Stagecoach Supertram. Interest in building a modern tram system for Sheffield had mounted during the 1980s. After detailed planning by SYPTE, the Supertram proposal was approved by Act of Parliament#United Kingdom Parliament, Act of Parliament in 1991. First South Yorkshire is a major bus operator providing bus services within and across South Yorkshire. It is a subsidiary of FirstGroup. History In 1989, South Yorkshire Transport introduced the ''Mainline'' brand on certain bus routes around South Yorkshire. Buses operated with ''Sheffield Mainline'' names in a bright red and yellow livery, replacing the previous "coffee and cream" livery. It was followed by ''Doncaster Mainline'' in a silver grey and red livery relieved by a light yellow band and finally ''Rotherham Mainline'', whose buses were painted blue and yellow. In 1992, the local brands were dropped and ''Mainline'' became the standard fleetname across the company's operating area. A common red and yellow livery with silver and blue bands was introduced. TM Travel
TM Travel is a bus operator based in Halfway, Sheffield, operating bus services in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Founded in 1995 as a family-owned operation with one bus, by March 2008 it had expanded to become the largest independent operator in Derbyshire. The company was taken over by the Wellglade Group in January 2010. History TM Travel was founded in November 1995 by former Hulleys of Baslow employee Tim Watts. Their first vehicle was a Leyland Tiger coach used on coach hire operations from a depot near Chesterfield. Two similar vehicles were added to the fleet in early 1996. Two school bus services were taken on in the same year and the fleet expanded to ten vehicles. Cream is a dairy product composed of the higher-fat layer skimmed from the top of milk before homogenization. In un-homogenized milk, the fat, which is less dense, eventually rises to the top. Northern General Hospital
The Northern General Hospital is a large teaching hospital and Major Trauma Centre in Sheffield, England. Its departments include Accident and Emergency for adults, with children being treated at the Sheffield Children's Hospital on Western Bank. The hospital is managed by the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital has its origins in the Fir Vale workhouse and infirmary for which the foundation stone was laid in 1878. When it opened in September 1881 the infirmary block had capacity for 366 patients. A ward for treating women with venereal diseases was established in the 1890s. The infirmary block was re-built and became the Sheffield Union Hospital when the workhouse was renamed the Fir Vale Institution in 1906.
