Glasgow Royal Hospital For Children
The Royal Hospital for Children is a 256-bed hospital specialising in paediatric healthcare for children and young people up to the age of their 16th birthday. The hospital is part of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and is built on the site of the former Southern General Hospital, in Govan and opened in June 2015. The hospital replaced the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Yorkhill. It is managed by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. History The Royal Hospital for Children, like the adjacent Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, was designed by Nightingale Associates, with construction carried out by Brookfield Multiplex, who previously built Wembley Stadium. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is an NHS board in West Central Scotland, created from the amalgamation of NHS Greater Glasgow and part of NHS Argyll and Clyde on 1 April 2006. ''STV News'' is a Scottish news service produced by STV. The news department produces two regional services covering STV's Channel 3 franchise areas of Northern and Central Scotland. MediCinema is a UK-based registered charity that builds, installs and manages state-of-the-art cinemas, screening the latest releases the film industry has to offer in hospitals and health facilities. MediCinema was founded by Christine Hill MBE. MediCinema has six cinemas that are located in health facilities around the UK and provided vital support to over 16,000 patients and families last year (2014). Yorkhill
Yorkhill ( gd, Cnoc Eabhraig) is an area in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated north of the River Clyde in the West End of the city. It is known for its famous hospitals and remains the location of the West Glasgow Ambulatory Care Hospital. The Kelvin Hall is located in Yorkhill, and the Glasgow Museum of Transport was located in the building from 1987 to 2010 (now relocated to the nearby Riverside Museum). The area is mostly residential, with the majority of the housing stock consisting of sandstone tenement housing built in the early 20th century by the Overnewton Building Company.
