Gladstone Gallery
Gladstone Gallery is an international art gallery founded by Barbara Gladstone in New York City in 1980. The gallery operates out of New York City, with branches in Los Angeles, California, Brussels, Belgium, and Seoul, South Korea. The gallery's primary exhibition space is on 24th Street in Manhattan with two other locations in Manhattan. This 24th Street space, known for its hangar-like dimensions, was designed by Selldorf Architects. History In the 1980s Gladstone represented artist and activist Keith Haring. In 1991, Gladstone Gallery launched Matthew Barney's solo debut in New York City. Initially operating in Soho and on 57th Street, the gallery relocated to Chelsea in 1996. Barbara Gladstone ( Levitt) is an American art dealer and film producer. She is owner of Gladstone Gallery, a contemporary art gallery with locations in New York and Brussels. Gladstone Gallery History In 1980, Gladstone gave up teaching art history at Hofstra University to open an art gallery in Manhattan, where she began showing Jenny Holzer. From 1989 to 1992, Gladstone Gallery collaborated with Christian Stein, an Italian art gallerist, on SteinGladstone. Located in a renovated firehouse at 99 Wooster Street in Soho, the gallery concentrated exclusively on rarely seen installation works by both Italian and American artists. LaToya Ruby Frazier
LaToya Ruby Frazier (born 1982) is an American artist and professor of photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From Braddock, Pennsylvania, Frazier began photographing her family and hometown at the age of 16, revising the social documentary traditional of Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange to imagine documentation from within and by the community, and collaboration between the photographer and her subjects. Inspired by Gordon Parks, who promoted the camera as a weapon for social justice, Frazier uses her tight focus to make apparent the impact of systemic problems, from racism to deindustrialization to environmental degradation, on individual bodies, relationships and spaces. In her work, she is concerned with bringing to light these problems, which she describes as global issues. Ugo Rondinone
Ugo Rondinone (born November 30, 1964) is a Swiss-born artist widely recognized for his mastery of several different media—most prominently sculpture, drawing and painting, but also photography, architecture, video and sound installation—in the largely figurative works he has made for exhibitions in galleries, museums and outdoor public spaces around the world. Victor Man
Victor Man (born 1974) is a Romanian-born artist and painter. Career In the late nineties, Victor Man enrolled as a student at the Academia de Arte Plastice, Cluj, but left after two years in order to study under the tutelage of Israel Hershberg at the Jerusalem Studio School in Israel, between 2000 and 2004. While in Jerusalem, he lived for three years at the Poor Clares' Convent (), and during this time mainly painted from nature inside of the monastery garden. After completing his studies with Hershberg, Man returned to Cluj in 2004 and finished his Bachelor of Fine Arts. Mark Leckey (born 1964) is a British contemporary artist. His found object art and video pieces, which incorporate themes of nostalgia and anxiety, and draw on elements of pop culture, span several works and exhibitions.
