Gizmodrome
Gizmodrome (sometimes known as Copeland, King, Cosma & Belew) is a British-Italian-American rock supergroup formed in Milan, Italy in 2017. The four-piece band consists of Police drummer Stewart Copeland, Level 42 bassist Mark King, Italian keyboardist Vittorio Cosma, and guitarist Adrian Belew who played for Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Talking Heads, David Bowie and many others. The group's debut album, ''Gizmodrome'', was released on September 15, 2017. It was recorded in Milan over two weeks in summer 2016 and spring 2017. Gizmodrome (album)
''Gizmodrome'' is the self-titled debut album by supergroup Gizmodrome, released in September 2017. It features Stewart Copeland (the Police, Curved Air), Vittorio Cosma ( PFM, Elio e le Storie Tese), Mark King (Level 42), and Adrian Belew (Frank Zappa, David Bowie, King Crimson). One song, "Amaka Pipa", was previewed on earMUSIC's official channel on 12 June 2017, three months before the release of the album. A videoclip of another song, "Man in the Mountain", featuring the band recording in the studio, was also uploaded to the same channel three days before the release of the album. Songs "Stay Ready" and "Strange Things Happen", in much different arrangements, were originally released on Stewart Copeland's alter ego Klark Kent's " Kollected Works", with the latter also appearing on the soundtrack of ''The Texas Chain Massacre 2''. Stewart Copeland
Stewart Armstrong Copeland (born July 16, 1952) is a Scottish-American musician and composer. He is best known for his work as the drummer of the English rock band the Police from 1977 to 1986, and again from 2007 to 2008. Before playing with the Police, he played drums with English rock band Curved Air from 1975 to 1976. As a composer, his work includes the films ''Wall Street'' (1987), ''Men At Work'' (1990), ''Good Burger'' (1997), and '' We Are Your Friends'' (2015); the television shows '' The Equalizer'' (1985–1989), ''The Amanda Show'' (1999–2002), and ''Dead Like Me'' (2003–2004); and video games such as the ''Spyro'' series (1998–present) and '' Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare'' (2001). Adrian Belew
Robert Steven "Adrian" Belew (born December 23, 1949) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. A multi-instrumentalist primarily known as a guitarist and singer, he is noted for his unusual and impressionistic approach to his guitar tones (which, rather than relying on standard instrumental tones, often resemble sound effects or noises made by animals and machines). Widely recognized as an "incredibly versatile player", Belew is perhaps best known for his long career as singer and guitarist in the progressive rock group King Crimson between 1981 and 2009. He has also released nearly twenty solo albums for Island Records and Atlantic Records in a range of blended or alternated styles including art rock, New Wave, Beatles-inspired pop-rock, progressive rock and experimental noise. Mark King (musician)
Mark Raymond King (born 20 October 1958) is an English musician. He is the lead singer and bassist of the band Level 42. King is known for his slap style of playing the bass guitar, with MusicRadar describing him as "the guy who put the slap in pop during the 80s". King received a BASCA Gold Badge Award in October 2015 in recognition of his contribution to British music. He won the "Outer Limits" award at the 2017 Progressive Music Awards. Early life King was born and brought up in Cowes, Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. His father, Raymond King, was a dairyman, and the family lived in a tied dairy house. Vittorio Cosma (born 11 March 1965) is an Italian pianist, record producer, conductor, and arranger. Life and career Born in Varese, Cosma studied piano at the Milan Conservatory and later jazz piano under Patrizio Fariselli and Franco D'Andrea. A supergroup is a musical group whose members are successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. The term became popular in the late 1960s when members of already successful rock groups recorded albums together, after which they normally disband. Charity supergroups, in which prominent musicians perform or record together in support of a particular cause, have been common since the 1980s.
