Giuliano Cenci
Giuliano Cenci (Florence, 10 August 1931 - Florence, 12 April 2018) was an Italian animated film director. Biography In 1949 he obtained the Diploma of Artistic Maturity at the Art School of Florence. Still a student, he began working in the graphic arts sector, cultivating, as a self-taught, a true passion for cartoons. His most famous work is the animated feature film ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' (1972), in which the artist wanted to create an adaptation of Carlo Collodi's novel ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' as close as possible to the original. Cenci was the director, screenwriter and co-producer of the film, as well as having personally done a good part of the animation (shared with the animator Italo Marazzi). The International Animated Film Association (French: ''Association Internationale du Film d'Animation'', ASIFA) is an international non-profit organization founded in 1960 in Annecy, France, by the best known animation artists of the time such as the Canadian animator, Norman McLaren. ''Carosello'' () was an Italian television advertising show broadcast on RAI from 1957 to 1977. The series mainly showed short sketch comedy films using live action, various types of animation, and puppetry. It had an audience of about 20 million viewers. History Initially, the only income for Italian television broadcasters came from subscription fees, but the amount was still very low. Rai had already thought of introducing a space dedicated to advertising in the television schedule. ''The Lord of the Rings'' is a 1978 American animated fantasy film directed by Ralph Bakshi. It is an adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's high fantasy epic novel of the same name, comprising ''The Fellowship of the Ring'' and some material from both books of ''The Two Towers''. Set in Middle-earth, the film follows a group of Hobbits, Men, an Elf, a Dwarf and a Wizard who form a fellowship. Ralph Bakshi
Ralph Bakshi (born October 29, 1938) is an American animator and filmmaker. In the 1970s, he established an alternative to mainstream animation through independent and adult-oriented productions. Between 1972 and 1992, he directed nine theatrically released feature films, five of which he wrote. He has been involved in numerous television projects as director, writer, producer, and animator. Beginning his career at the Terrytoons television cartoon studio as a cel polisher, Bakshi was eventually promoted to animator, and then director. He moved to the animation division of Paramount Pictures in 1967 and started his own studio, Bakshi Productions, in 1968. Through producer Steve Krantz, Bakshi made his debut feature film, ''Fritz the Cat'', released in 1972. Rotoscoping
Rotoscoping is an animation technique that animators use to trace over motion picture footage, frame by frame, to produce realistic action. Originally, animators projected photographed live-action movie images onto a glass panel and traced over the image. This projection equipment is referred to as a rotoscope, developed by Polish-American animator Max Fleischer, and the result is a rotograph. This device was eventually replaced by computers, but the process is still called rotoscoping. In the visual effects industry, ''rotoscoping'' is the technique of manually creating a matte for an element on a live-action plate so it may be composited over another background. Chroma key is more often used for this, as it is faster and requires less work, but rotoscopy provides a higher level of accuracy and is often used in conjunction with chroma-keying.
