Giro D'Italia 1982
The 1982 Giro d'Italia was the 65th running of the Giro. It started in Brescia, on 13 May, with a team time trial and concluded in Turin, on 6 June, with a individual time trial. A total of 162 riders from eighteen teams entered the 22-stage race, that was won by Frenchman Bernard Hinault of the Renault-Elf team. The second and third places were taken by Swede Tommy Prim and Italian Silvano Contini, respectively. Amongst the other classifications that the race awarded, Famcucine's Francesco Moser won the points classification, Lucien Van Impe of Metauro Mobili won the mountains classification, and Metauro Mobili's Marco Groppo completed the Giro as the best neo-professional in the general classification, finishing ninth overall. Bernard Hinault
Bernard Hinault (; born 14 November 1954) is a French former professional road cyclist. With 147 professional victories, including five times the Tour de France, he is often named among the greatest cyclists of all time. In his career, Hinault entered a total of thirteen Grand Tours. He abandoned one of them while in the lead, finished in 2nd place on two occasions and won the other ten, putting him one behind Merckx for the all time record. No rider since Hinault has achieved more than seven. Hinault started cycling as an amateur in his native Brittany. After a successful amateur career, he signed with the Gitane–Campagnolo team to turn professional in 1975. He took breakthrough victories at both the Liège–Bastogne–Liège classic and the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré stage race in 1977. Team Classification In The Giro D'Italia
The Team classification in the Giro d'Italia, also known as the Trofeo Fast Team, is a prize that is contested in the Giro d'Italia. It has been awarded since the race's inception. In more recent editions the classification is calculated by adding up the top three riders' times from each team for each stage, and then the team with the lowest total time is the leader of the classification. In case of a tie, the teams are separated by the sum of the places obtained by their three best riders at the finish. In 2012, the first team received a bonus of €500, the second a premium of 300 euros and last a premium of 100 euros. A total of 18,900 euros has been awarded for this award during the race (21 stages). San Martino Di Castrozza
San Martino di Castrozza is a mountain resort in the Primiero valley in the Trentino province in Italy. The western part, with 428 inhabitants, is in the comune of Siror, with the eastern, housing 135 inhabitants, in Tonadico. History The first buildings on the site of San Martino were a religious institution, the hospice of saints Martino and Giuliano, which welcomed travelers crossing the Alps by the Rolle Pass between the valleys of Primiero and Fiemme. All that remains of the hospice is the church of San Martino, which has a romanesque bell-tower. The first alpine hotel in San Martino was built by the Irish traveller, John Ball in 1873. Campitello Matese is an Italian civil parish (''frazione'') and ski resort, part of the municipality of San Massimo in the province of Campobasso, Molise region. Kelme (cycling Team)
Kelme was a professional cycling team based in Spain. History In 1979, Kelme sponsored the mountains classification in the Vuelta a España. The owners of Kelme were not satisfied with the publicity that this produced, so they decided to sponsor a cycling team instead. The Kelme team was formed from another Spanish cycling team, Transmallorca, in 1980. From the 2004 cycling season, the Valencian government took the main sponsorship, Kelme becoming co-sponsor, finally dropping from the team at the end of the year. Despite this, the team kept on running, but its days were numbered when on 20 August 2006, because of doping allegations on Operación Puerto, the Valencian government dropped its sponsorship. Gis Gelati was an Italian professional cycling team that was active between 1978 and 1991. It was headquartered in Giulianova, Abruzzo. History The team had a multitude of team managers, but the first was Piero Pieroni, who stayed for a total of three straight years and then came back for another season in 1984. In the team's first season, 1978, they won two events with Marino Basso. They won the 1983 Giro d'Italia with Francesco Moser. The team was very successful in the Giro d'Italia, they won many Points classifications, a General classification, and 23 stages. Del Tongo () was an Italian professional cycling team that was active between 1982 and 1991. The team disbanded, but provided the basis for Lampre. History The team was led primarily by two Italian sports directors: Pietro Algeri and Paolo Abetoni. They won the 1983 Giro d'Italia with Giuseppe Saronni. They only participated once in the Tour de France, in 1987.
