Giovanni Pettinelli
Giovanni Pettinelli (; born 13 March 1996) is an Italian professional rugby union player who primarily plays flanker for Mogliano Veneto in the Italian Serie A Elite. He has also represented Italy at international level. Professional career Pettinelli began his career at Calvisano in the Top12 before moving to Benetton ahead of the 2018–19 Pro14 season. While at Calvisano he made a single loan appearance for Zebre against Ospreys in the Pro12 on 2 September 2016. He played for Benetton until 2023–24 United Rugby Championship season. Pettinelli was a member of the Italy squad at the 2016 Six Nations Under 20s Championship, and he scored a try against Ireland in the fourth round. He was also a member of the Italy squad at the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship and of the Emerging Italy squad for the annual World Rugby Nations Cup in 2018. The 2023–24 United Rugby Championship is the 23rd season of the professional rugby union competition known as the United Rugby Championship, and the third season under that name. It began on 21 October 2023 and will end on 22 June 2024. The reigning and defending champions are Munster Rugby who defeated Stormers in the 2023 final. United Rugby Championship
The United Rugby Championship (URC) is an annual rugby union competition involving professional teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales. The current name was adopted in 2021 when the league expanded to include four South African teams previously from the SANZAR Super Rugby competition. The league is one of the three major professional leagues in Europe (along with the English Premiership Rugby, Premiership and the French Top 14), the most successful teams from which go forward to compete in the European Rugby Champions Cup. 2023 Rugby World Cup
The 2023 Rugby World Cup is scheduled to be the tenth men's Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's rugby union teams. It is scheduled to take place in France from 8 September to 28 October 2023 in nine venues across the country. The opening match and final will take place at the Stade de France, in the commune of Saint-Denis, north of Paris. The tournament will take place in the bicentenary year of the "invention" of the sport by William Webb Ellis. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to last the typical six weeks; however, on 23 February 2021, World Rugby announced an additional week to accommodate the additional rest day requirement for player welfare. Kieran Crowley
Kieran James Crowley (born 31 August 1961) is a New Zealand rugby union coach and former player, who is the head coach of Italy. He has also coached the New Zealand Under-19s in the 2007 World Championships as well as coaching provincial side Taranaki. He previously served as head coach of Canada. He also spent five seasons coaching Benetton Rugby. He is a former member of the New Zealand All Blacks where he played as a fullback. Early life Crowley was born in Kaponga, New Zealand. Alessandro Troncon
Alessandro Troncon (born 6 September 1973 in Treviso) is a former Italian rugby union player. Troncon is the 6th most capped player in Italian rugby union history, and the first Italian to gain 100 caps. The veteran scrum-half made his Italy debut against Spain (62–15) in 1994 and has played alongside fly-half Diego Dominguez on more than 50 occasions. He suffered a serious knee injury after the 2003 World Cup which forced him to miss the entire 2004 Six Nations, and to lose the captaincy for his national team. Troncon spent two years at French side Montferrand before returning to Treviso.
