Giovanni Battista Lamperti
Giovanni Battista Lamperti (24 June 1839 – 18 March 1910) was an Italian singing teacher and son of the singing teacher Francesco Lamperti. He is the author of ''The Technics of Bel Canto'' (1905) and source for ''Vocal Wisdom: Maxims of Giovanni Battista Lamperti'' (1931). Life and career Giovanni Battista Lamperti was born in 1839 in Milan to Italian singing teacher Francesco Lamperti. He was a chorister at the great cathedral and studied voice and piano at the conservatory. A student and later accompanist for his father at the conservatory, Giovanni knew better than anyone else the method his father taught (which he claimed descended from the great castrato-teacher Antonio Bernacchi). Appropriating it for teaching his own students, Giovanni also began teaching voice at the Milan conservatory and then for 20 years in Dresden, followed by Berlin. Roberto Stagno
Roberto Stagno (; 18 October 1840 ome sources give 1836 as his birth year – 26 April 1897) was a prominent Italian opera tenor. He became an important interpreter of verismo music when it burst on to the operatic scene during the 1890s; but he also possessed an agile bel canto technique which he employed in operas dating from earlier periods. In 1890, he created the pivotal verismo role of Turiddu. Career Stagno (real name Vincenzo Andrioli) was born in Palermo, Sicily, into a family with connections to the minor nobility. He studied in Milan in Northern Italy and made his operatic debut in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1862. Marcella Sembrich
Prakseda Marcelina Kochańska (February 15, 1858 – January 11, 1935), known professionally as Marcella Sembrich, was a Polish coloratura soprano. She is known for her extensive range of two and a half octaves, precise intonation, charm, portamento, vocal fluidity, and impressive coloratura. Her voice was regarded as flute-like, sweet, pure, light, and brilliant. She had an important international singing career, chiefly at the New York Metropolitan Opera and the Royal Opera House, in London. Early life Sembrich was born at Vyshnivchyk, Wisniewczyk which lies in the Polish region of Austrian Galicia, Austro-Hungarian occupied Galicia (Eastern Europe), Galicia, now part of Ukraine. Franz Innozenz Stahl Nachbauer (1835–1902) was a famous German opera tenor. Born in Giessen, he studied with Giovanni Battista Lamperti in Milan and with the celebrated baritone, Jan Krtitel Pisek, in Stuttgart. He made his debut on the stage in Passau in 1857 and was active until his retirement in 1890. He died in Munich. Agnes Huntington
Agnes Huntington (later, Agnes Huntington Cravath; ca. 1864 – March 10, 1953) was an American operatic singer. For several years, she received private tutoring in Europe for music, languages, and drawing. She had a notable career in concert and opera as a prima donna contralto. Early years and education Agnes Huntington was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in ca. 1864. She was the daughter of Charles E. and Fannie E. (Munsell) Huntington and was raised by them in New York City. She was educated at Mrs. Sylvanus Reed's School for Girls in New York City. In 1880, her family decided that she should follow a career of her own choosing. Biography Bispham was born on January 5, 1857 in Philadelphia, the only child of William Danforth Bispham and Jane Lippincott Scull.W. Irene Abendroth, born as Irene Thaller von Draga (14 July 1872 – 1 September 1932) was an Austrian-Polish coloratura soprano singer. She was a pupil of Frau Wilczek. She was a member of the Vienna court opera in 1889, and she sang in Riga and Munich, and again in Vienna (1894-99). She was engaged from 1899 to 1908 at the Royal Opera in Dresden.
