Club Atlético Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy , (usually known as Gimnasia de Jujuy or just GEJ) is an Argentine sports club based in San Salvador de Jujuy, Jujuy Province. The club was founded in 1931 and is best known for its football team, which currently plays in the Primera B Nacional, the second division of the Argentine football league system. The team is one of the most important football clubs in the North-West region of Argentina. It has spent most of its history in the second division, although it has also played in the Primera Division on many occasions. In terms of titles, it is the biggest club in the Jujuy province, with 38 in total. History The club was founded on 18 March 1931. The first president of Gimnasia and one of the major drivers for the club's foundation was Thomas Yufra, who was president on three occasions. 23 de Agosto Stadium, nicknamed ''La Tacita de Plata'', is a football stadium in San Salvador de Jujuy, Argentina. The stadium is owned and operated by local club Gimnasia y Esgrima. The stadium, inaugurated in 1973, currently holds 25,000 people and was one of the venues for the 2011 Copa América, having also hosted some rugby union matches. History It was inaugurated on March 18, 1973, the date on which the club's anniversary is celebrated. It was in a match of the 1st round of 1973 Torneo Regional v Vélez Sársfield de Catamarca, won by Gimnasia y Esgrima 2–0. In 2009, the AFA confirmed Jujuy as one of the venues for the 2011 Copa América, and the stadium was remodeled for that purpose. Works included expansion of the grandstands (up to 24,000 spectators) and addition of press boxes and a giant screen in the north side of the stadium. Club Almirante Brown (mostly known simply as Almirante Brown) is an Argentine sports club headquartered in the San Justo district of La Matanza Partido, in Greater Buenos Aires. Facundo Julián Callejo (born 2 July 1992) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Primera B Nacional side Temperley. Career Callejo had youth spells with Santamarina and Colón, he made the step into first-team football with Colón where he scored two goals in fifteen matches for them between 2013 and 2017; his debut came on 27 April 2013 in an Argentine Primera División win at home to Arsenal de Sarandí. The Torneo Federal A (in English "Federal A Tournament") is one of the two professional leagues that form the regionalised third level of the Argentine football league system, along with Primera B Metropolitana. The competition was established in 2014 as a result of a change in the structure of the league system, replacing Torneo Argentino A. Federal A is organised by "Consejo Federal", a division of the Argentine Football Association. Clubs in Federal A have indirect membership in AFA unlike clubs in Primera B, which have direct membership. 2008–09 Argentine Primera División Season
The 2008-09 Primera División season was the 118th season of top-flight professional football in Argentina and the nineteenth season in which the Apertura and Clausura system is used. Boca Juniors won the Apertura championship for their 29th national title after a three team playoff with Tigre and San Lorenzo. The Clausura championship was won by Vélez Sársfield for their 7th national title. Gimnasia y Esgrima (J) and San Martín (T) were relegated to the Primera B Nacional. Format The format for the 2008-09 season remained unchanged. The season was split into two tournaments called Apertura and Clausura. Each tournament was contested by the same 20 teams in a single round-robin format. The champions of each tournament is determined by points.
