It is located near the eastern boundary of the town, along a stretch of the Suncook River south of the outlet of Crystal Lake. Suncook River
The Suncook River is a river located in central New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Merrimack River, which flows to the Gulf of Maine. Course The Suncook River begins at the outlet of Crystal Lake in the town of Gilmanton, New Hampshire. The village of Gilmanton Ironworks is located at the lake's outlet. The Suncook flows south two miles to the Suncook Lakes (Upper and Lower) in Barnstead. Camp Fatima is a Catholic overnight summer camp located in Gilmanton Iron Works, NH. The camp has a waterfront on the northern shore of Upper Suncook Lake. History The camp was founded in 1949 by Richard Boner, after the previous establishment, a Jewish camp named Camp Wingo, closed and relocated to Maine. The camp is named after Our Lady of Fátima, a Marian apparition observed in 1917 by three shepherd children at the Cova da Iria, in Fátima, Portugal. New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu attended Camp Fatima from 1984 to 1989. Program Camp Fatima has four normal sessions during the summer. Each session is two weeks long. Scouting in New Hampshire has a long history, from the 1910s to the present day, serving thousands of youth in programs that suit the environment in which they live. Early history (1910-1950) In 1912, two years after the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) were founded in the United States, the Manchester Council (#330), a volunteer-led council, was organized. Initially there were only two troops, both of them chartered by the YMCA. As Scouting grew in popularity, three more makeshift and unrecognized councils sprang up in Dover, Claremont, and Portsmouth. The council grew steadily and added a Scout Executive to its staff in 1919. On January 9, 1920, the Manchester Council was granted an official charter with the Boy Scouts of America. Belmont is a town in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 7,314 at the 2020 census. New Hampshire Route 140 is a east–west state highway in central New Hampshire, running from Tilton to Alton. The western terminus of NH 140 is in Tilton at an intersection with U.S. Route 3, New Hampshire Route 11 and New Hampshire Route 132, located at exit 20 on Interstate 93. The eastern terminus is in Alton at NH 11 and New Hampshire Route 28A (Main Street). In Alton, the road is named the Frank C. Gilman Highway. Crystal Lake is a water body located in Belknap County in the Lakes Region of central New Hampshire, United States, in the town of Gilmanton. Crystal Lake is at the head of the Suncook River watershed. Water flows into Crystal Lake from the Belknap Range through Manning and Sunset lakes to the north. Water from Manning Lake enters Crystal Lake via Nelson Brook. Other waterways flowing into Crystal Lake include Wasson Brook and Mill Brook.
