Gilberto Teodoro Sr.
Gilberto Teodoro Sr. (May 7, 1927 – February 22, 2008) was a former Social Security System administrator. Early life Gilberto O. Teodoro Sr. was born on May 7, 1927. Personal life Gilbert Teodoro Sr. was father of Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., is also survived by his wife and former Batasang Pambansa member Mercedes Cojuangco-Teodoro, daughter-in-law Representative Monica Prieto-Teodoro and grandson Jaime Gilberto. Accomplishments Teodoro was administrator from January 1966 to February 1986, the longest to serve as head of the SSS, which was established in 1957. The agency was young when Teodoro became its head, and that most of the programs he initiated became the blueprint for SSS’ success. Social Security System (Philippines)
The Social Security System (SSS; fil, Paseguruhan ng Kapanatagang Panlipunan) is a state-run, social insurance program in the Philippines to workers in the private, professional and informal sectors. SSS is established by virtue of Republic Act No. 1161, better known as the Social Security Act of 1954. This law was later amended by Republic Act No. 8282 in 1997. Government employees, meanwhile, are covered under a separate state-pension fund by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). History President Manuel Roxas, to give relief to the people who were facing difficulties in the post-war period, called on the legislators to create a social security program in his State of the Nation Address in January 1948 but he died without passing the bill. Taguig (), officially the City of Taguig ( fil, Lungsod ng Taguig), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in Metro Manila, Philippines. Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB, , ) is a national cemetery within Fort Andres Bonifacio (formerly Fort William McKinley) in Metro Manila, Philippines. Economic growth can be defined as the increase or improvement in the inflation-adjusted market value of the goods and services produced by an economy in a financial year. Statisticians conventionally measure such growth as the percent rate of increase in the real gross domestic product, or real GDP. Growth is usually calculated in real terms – i.e., inflation-adjusted terms – to eliminate the distorting effect of inflation on the prices of goods produced. Measurement of economic growth uses national income accounting. Gilberto Teodoro
Gilberto Eduardo Gerardo Cojuangco Teodoro Jr. (born June 14, 1964), nicknamed Gilbert or Gibo (), is a Filipino lawyer, politician and business executive who served as the Secretary of National Defense from 2007 to 2009 under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He was the nominee of Arroyo's Lakas–Kampi–CMD in the 2010 presidential election, which he lost to his second cousin, Benigno Aquino III. Teodoro studied commerce at De La Salle University, and law at the University of the Philippines, where he graduated top of his class and went on to top the 1989 Bar exams. He then earned his Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School. He practiced law until he was elected as Representative of Tarlac's 1st district, serving from 1998 to 2007.
