Gilberto Román (actor)
Gilberto Román (29 November 1961 – 27 June 1990) was a Mexican professional boxer and a member of the 1980 Mexican Olympic team. Román was a two-time WBC and Lineal Super Flyweight Champion and is considered by many fans to be one of the great champions in this division. Gilberto was trained by Boxing Hall of Famer Ignacio Beristáin. Amateur career As an amateur boxer he won some Mexican National Championships and was a member of the 1980 Mexican Olympic team. He fought with Ezequiel Cano Molina, from Cd. Super flyweight, also referred to as junior bantamweight, is a boxing weight classes, weight class in professional boxing, contested from and up to . History The first title match in this division was in 1980, when the World Boxing Council responded to pressure from Asian and Latin American members who felt the difference between the flyweight limit and the bantamweight limit was too significant. Rafael Orono won the inaugural title in February of that year by defeating Lee Seung-hoon (boxer), Seung-Hoon Lee. The World Boxing Association followed suit in 1981 when Gustavo Ballas won the vacant title by knocking out Sok-Chul Baek. Frank Cedeno
Frank Cedeno (born March 16, 1958) is a British-Filipino former professional boxer in the Flyweight division. Professional boxing career Cedeno made his professional debut in 1976, losing to Ray De los Santos via eight round points decision. After 7 years with 38 fights, Cedeno finally got his chance to fight for the world championship. In September 1983, Cedeno knocked out Charlie Magri in the sixth round to claim the WBC and Lineal Flyweight titles. On January 18, 1984, Cedeno made his first title defence against Koji Kobayashi in Nagoya, Japan and lost via second-round TKO. He retired in 1988 with a record of 43 wins with 23 KOs, 10 losses and 3 draws. Moon Sung-kil (, born July 20, 1963) is a Korean former professional boxer who competed from 1987 to 1993. He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBA bantamweight title from August 1988 to July 1989 and the WBC super-flyweight title between January 1990 and November 1993. Nana Yaw Konadu Yeboah (born February 15, 1964) is a Ghanaian former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2001. He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBC super-flyweight title from 1989 to 1990, and the WBA bantamweight title twice between 1996 and 1998. Professional career Konadu made his professional debut on May 5, 1985. In his 15th professional bout, he defeated former champion Cesar Polanco to capture the WBC International super flyweight title. WBC super-flyweight Title On November 7, 1989, Konadu captured the WBC and Lineal Super Flyweight Title with a decision win over two-time champion Gilberto Roman.
