Gideon Singer
Gideon Singer ( he, גדעון זינגר; June 29, 1926 – May 11, 2015) was an Israeli actor and singer. Biography Born in Brno, Singer emigrated with his family from Czechoslovakia to Israel in 1940 and he was a survivor of the Patria shipwreck. Singer lived in Tel Aviv where he started singing as well as learning to play the violin and he also worked as a diamond polisher during his youth. After passing adolescence, Singer served in the Palmach where he also participated in the Chizbatron mainly during the late 1940s and early 1950s and he was also a member of a satire singing group along with Yaakov Ben-Sira, Shimon Bar and Reuven Shefer. After appearing twice in the Israel Song Festival, Singer appeared frequently at the Habima Theatre, the Cameri Theatre and the Beersheba Theatre and appeared in stage adaptations of ''The Threepenny Opera'', ''Twelfth Night'' and numerous musical productions. Chizbatron
The Chizbatron ( he, צ'יזבטרון) was an Israeli musical ensemble under the auspices of the Israel Defense Force (IDF). It operated during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, serving within the Palmach. History The Chizbatron troupe was founded in January 1948. One of the founders was Haim Hefer, who served as its chief songwriter. Hefer based the band off of Red Army military bands and song and dance ensembles, favoring the role they played during Second World War. The concept applied by entertainment units in the Yishuv were also drawn. This gave him the grounds to ask for permission from Palmach commander Yigal Alon for a budget of 10 British pounds to purchase accordions for means to establish such a band. Russian-born composer Sasha Argov was appointed as the first band director. Its first performance was held on 2 February 1948 to training cadets in Dalia. The Theater in der Josefstadt is a theater in Vienna in the eighth district of Josefstadt. It was founded in 1788 and is the oldest still performing theater in Vienna. It is often referred to colloquially as simply ''Die Josefstadt''. Plot Prison warden Dr. Fazetti (Leander Haußmann) is confident about having found a striking new concept for the rehabilitation of prisoners by offering them the chance to take a break from their sentence if only they can find a trustworthy woman who takes care of them and vouches for them. The convicts Steinbock (Til Schweiger) and Hammer-Gerd (Detlev Buck) succeed in doing so. However, since they are tough guys stamped by prison fights they have their issues when it comes to discipline and it is particularly hard for them to have a lady as boss. Yarkon Cemetery
Yarkon Cemetery ( he, בית העלמין ירקון) is the main cemetery for the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area of Israel. It is located within the Petah Tikva city limits, between the Yarkon River in the West, Highway 5 in the North, and the 491 road from East and South. History The need to establish the cemetery was driven by crowding in the Southern Cemetery in Bat Yam. A number of locations were considered, including the area north of Ramat Aviv. The eventual location was preferred for being relatively far from the center of Tel Aviv. The cemetery was opened by chief rabbis Hayim David HaLevi and Israel Meir Lau in 1991.
