Gibraltar United F.C.
Gibraltar United F.C. is a football team from Gibraltar. Founded in 1943 in the midst of World War II, they play in the Gibraltar Football League's Premier Division. In 2011 Gibraltar United joined forces with fellow local club Lions Football Club, with the club's new name Lions Gibraltar FC who played in Gibraltar's Premier Division. In 2014 the club announced their reformation as an independent club and played in the Gibraltar Football League's second tier once again in the 2014–15 season, winning promotion as champions. History The club was founded by Aurelio Louis Danino a Gibraltarian journalist whose nom de plume was "Lubinox". Victoria Stadium (Gibraltar)
Victoria Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Gibraltar. It is currently used mostly for football matches, but also hosts the annual Gibraltar Music Festival. It is located close to Gibraltar Airport just off Winston Churchill Avenue. It was named after the wife of Gibraltarian philanthropist John Mackintosh. Despite initial plans to replace the stadium in the 2010s, the Gibraltar Football Association purchased the stadium from the Government of Gibraltar in April 2017 in order to improve and renovate it. The redevelopment of the stadium is due to start in late 2022, with the national team announcing they will play UEFA and FIFA games in Faro, Portugal. Jordan Perez
Jordan López Pérez (born 13 November 1986) is a Gibraltarian volleyball player and footballer who plays for Lynx in the Gibraltar Football League, and represented the Gibraltar national team in UEFA competition from 2013 until 2017, as a goalkeeper. Club career Perez started his career with College Europa and joined Manchester 62 in 2008, after a short stint at Lynx. In 2013, he moved to fellow league team Lincoln Red Imps, being champion of the League, the Cup and the League Cup. In October 2014 Perez rescinded with Lincoln, due to the lack of first team action, and joined Lions Gibraltar shortly after. James Louis Bosio (born 24 September 1991) is a futsal coach and former professional footballer. Mainly a defensive midfielder, he was able to play at left-back or centre-back in a career that saw him play at Glacis United, Europa, Lincoln Red Imps and Gibraltar United, alongside loan spells in England with Ashford United and Canterbury City. Daniel 'Dani' Ponce de León García (born 16 May 1991) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Gibraltar United as a winger. Football career A product of AD Torrejón CF's youth system, Ponce made his senior debuts in the 2010–11 season with Real Ávila CF, in the fourth division. He continued to compete in the fourth level in the following seasons, representing CD Coslada and AD Alcorcón B. Erin Anthony Barnett (born 2 September 1996) is a Gibraltarian footballer who plays for St Joseph's and the Gibraltar national team. He is mainly a centre back player. Club career Barnett emerged from the Lions Gibraltar youth set up in 2013, at the age of 16, and quickly became a regular fixture in the side. He was released by the club in 2015, however. After a year without a club, he re-signed in summer 2016. Before the transfer window closed, he moved again as he was signed by Gibraltar United. Gibraltar National League
The Gibraltar Football League is the only senior tier of association football in Gibraltar, founded in 2019 as the Gibraltar National League after a merger of the Gibraltar Premier Division, which served as the top division of football on the Rock since 1905, and the Gibraltar Second Division, which had existed since 1909. It was announced in August 2019 by the Gibraltar Football Association. The league is supported by the Gibraltar Intermediate League for U23 sides and Hound Dogs. Format Rumours of the new league began in 2018, when the Gibraltar FA announced plans for a single tier format in its league constitution for the 2018–19 Gibraltar Premier Division. Antonio Notario Caro (born 19 November 1972) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
