Gian Carlo Di Martino
Gian Carlo Di Martino Tarquinio is a Venezuelan politician and lawyer who is a former mayor of the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela's second largest city. Biography Di Martino was born on July 12, 1964, in Maracaibo, the son of Italian immigrants. He received a bachelor's degree in political sciences at the Rafael Urdaneta University in 1987. In 1991, he received a diploma in international diplomacy from the Central University of Venezuela. In 1993, he graduated as a lawyer at the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. In 1997, he was director of the Sabaneta jail in Maracaibo and general director of the foreign affairs office of Zulia. Two years later, he became alderman of the city. In 2000, he was elected mayor of Maracaibo and was re-elected in 2004. Di Martino became a member of the PSUV and ran for governor of Zulia in the regional elections on 23 November 2008. Manuel Rosales
Manuel Antonio Rosales Guerrero (born December 12, 1952, in Santa Bárbara del Zulia) is a Venezuelan educator and politician, current governor of Zulia, States of Venezuela, Venezuela's most populated state. He was the most prominent opposition candidate in the 2006 Venezuelan presidential election, 2006 presidential election, losing to incumbent Hugo Chávez. He served as a congressman, mayor, and governor, but in April 2009, stepped down as Mayor of Maracaibo when he was charged with corruption in Venezuela and fled to Peru. Rosales denies the charges, and was granted political asylum in Peru. A New Era ( es, Un Nuevo Tiempo, UNT) is a centre-left political party in Venezuela. It received 11% of the vote in the 2008 regional elections. The party arose in Zulia State, Venezuela's most populous, and remains far stronger in its home region than elsewhere in the country, providing the state governor since 2000 (currently Pablo Pérez Álvarez, previously Manuel Rosales) and the mayor of its largest city, Maracaibo (since 2010, currently, Eveling Trejo de Rosales). 12 candidates of ''Un Nuevo Tiempo'' or supported by ''Un Nuevo Tiempo'' were elected deputies to the National Assembly out of 15 in the September 2010 legislative elections.
