Ghulam Muhammad Khan Mahar
Sardar Ghulam Muhammad Khan Mahar (Urdu: سردار غلام محمد خان مهر) was chief of the Mahar tribe, and a prominent politician and philanthropist of the Sukkur District. He was first elected as a member of National Assembly of Pakistan in 1964. He became senator in 1973 with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He was elected a member of the National Assembly in 1977 general elections as the PPP candidate from NA-152 Sukkur II, he was elected Chairman District Council Sukkur in 1979 and remained until 1983. He was Minister for Agriculture when General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq was the Martial Law Administrator. He won general elections of March 1985 as an independent candidate, and remained Minister of State for Health from 22 December 1986 to 29 May 1988 in Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Khan Junejo's cabinet. Sukkur, Sindh
Sukkur (; ) is a city in the Pakistani province of Sindh along the western bank of the Indus River, directly across from the historic city of Rohri. Sukkur is the third largest city in Sindh after Karachi and Hyderabad, and 14th largest city of Pakistan by population. New Sukkur was established during the British era alongside the village of Sukkur. Sukkur's hill, along with the hill on the river island of Bukkur, form what is sometimes considered the "Gate of Sindh". Etymology The name Sukkur may derive from the Arabic word for "sugar," ''shakkar'', in reference to the sugarcane fields that have historically been abundant in the region. Sardar, also spelled as Sardaar/Sirdar ( fa, سردار, , 'commander', literally 'headmaster'), is a title of royalty and nobility that was originally used to denote princes, noblemen, chiefs, kings and other aristocrats. It has also been used to denote a chief or leader of a tribe or group. It is used as a Persian synonym of the title ''Emir'' of Arabic origin. In modern history it is known as the title for Afghan Princes during the Afghan Royal Kingdom, descending from the Emir Sultan Mohammed Khan Telai. It was also used as a title of merit in the ''Nishan-i-Sardari'' for outstanding service in statecraft. Mahar Family
Mahar, meaning "original inhabitants of Maharashtra" (in various languages), is an Indian caste found largely in the state of Maharashtra and neighbouring areas. Most of the Mahar community followed B. R. Ambedkar in converting to Buddhism in the middle of the 20th century. As of 2017 the Mahar caste was designated as a Scheduled Caste in 16 Indian states. Ghotki ( ur, ; sd, گهوٽڪي) is a city in northern Sindh, Pakistan. It is the headquarter of Ghotki District. It is the 87th largest city of Pakistan by population. Ghotki is famous for Pera Sweet.
