''Amoeba Cleansing Syndrome'' is the second studio album from American R&B singer Joi. The album was set to be released in 1996, under EMI Records and promotional CD's was released to radio stations. EMI soon delayed ''Amoeba Cleansing Syndrome'' set for a later release in 1997, for more songs with commercial appeal. By 1997, the album was planned for release, as "Ghetto Superstar" was to be first single. Abruptly, EMI Records was shut down, and the album was shelved. The producer of the ''"Amoeba"'' album was Dallas Austin, who arranged for funk rock band Fishbone to be the backing band. Dallas's company FreeWorld Records acquired the rights to release the album. FreeWorld Records released two different promotional EPs for radio with a selection of songs from the album. FreeWorld Records went out of business before ''"Amoeba Cleansing Syndrome"'' was set to be released. Joi Elaine Gilliam (born January 25, 1971), better known mononymously as Joi, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer associated with the Dungeon Family collective based in Atlanta, Georgia, and as such often performs with OutKast, Organized Noize, and Goodie Mob (her ex-husband, Big Gipp, is a member of the latter group). Cameron Gipp (born April 28, 1973), better known by his stage name Big Gipp, is an American rapper from Atlanta. He is best known for his work as a founding member of Goodie Mob, which he has gone on to release six studio albums. Aside from Goodie Mob, Gipp's solo album Mutant Mindframe was released in 2003. Myrna Crenshaw Brown (July 6, 1959 – April 1, 2007), best known as Screechy Peach, was an American singer and songwriter. Initially the lead singer of Whild Peach, alongside her husband, guitarist David Whild, she would acquire fame in the 1990s due to her collaboration with such artists as Outkast and Macy Gray.
