Get Your Act Together With Harvey Goldsmith
''Get Your Act Together with Harvey Goldsmith'' is a Channel 4 television programme in which promoter Harvey Goldsmith is given six months to help revive the fortunes of six entertainment businesses or performers. The acts and businesses he deals with are Irish singer and actress Samantha Mumba, husband and wife opera business ''Opera Anywhere'', heavy metal band Saxon, radio station Big L 1395, ''Deighton Working Men's Club'' and ''Paulo's'', Britain's oldest circus. He dealt with all simultaneously over a six-month period, but they are each given a separate show in the series. Much of the show revolves around the battle between Goldsmith and the people who he is trying to help. The acts are often reluctant to take on board his advice, or even to change at all. Goldsmith is often frustrated at the slow pace at which those he is advising are progressing. Harvey Goldsmith
Harvey Goldsmith (born 4 March 1946 in Edgware, Middlesex) is an English performing arts promoter. He is best known as a promoter of rock concerts, charity concerts, television broadcasts for the Prince's Trust and more recently the Teenage Cancer Trust shows at the Royal Albert Hall. In 1985, Goldsmith promoted the Live Aid concert held at Wembley Stadium in London. During early 2007, he appeared on the Channel 4 programme ''Get Your Act Together with Harvey Goldsmith''. In October the same year, he promoted a reunion concert for surviving members of Led Zeppelin in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, which was held at London's O2 Arena. Samantha Mumba
Samantha Tamania Anne Cecilia Mumba (born 18 January 1983) is an Irish singer-songwriter, dancer, actress, fashion model and TV presenter. In 2000, at the age of 17, she shot to fame with the release of her debut single "Gotta Tell You", which reached the top five in Ireland, United Kingdom and the United States. It has since been listed in ''Billboard''s 100 Greatest Choruses of the 21st Century. Big L was the name of a short-lived broadcasting company registered by the British licensing authority Ofcom fro11 June 2002 to 10 June 2003for a satellite radio service known as Big L. The license stated that the station ''"… will provide an eclectic mix of rock and pop, both modern and classic. News and weather will be broadcast hourly. Troubleshooter was a British reality television series, produced and shown by the BBC, focusing on experienced business leaders visiting and advising small and often struggling UK businesses. It first aired in 1990 with Sir John Harvey-Jones, formerly of ICI. After the series won a BAFTA, Harvey-Jones decided that he didn't want to become a television personality, after one newspaper called him the "most famous industrialist since Isambard Kingdom Brunel."
