Gerry Gurr
Gerald Gurr (born 20 October 1946 in Brighton) is an English former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Playing career Gurr began his career at Arsenal as a young player, initially as a forward player, in 1962 before moving to join Queens Park Rangers's academy in 1963. While at QPR, Gurr had trials at other league clubs including Leicester City and Northampton Town. After leaving QPR he joined Guildford City in late 1963. While playing for Guildford he was spotted by Southampton and handed a trial in January 1964. This trial proved successful, and he joined Southampton as a professional later that year. However, it was to be another three years before Gurr made his debut for Southampton against Leicester City at The Dell on 14 January 1967 in a 4–4 draw. In this game the then 20-year-old Gurr saved a penalty. Brighton

Jimmy Melia
James Melia (born 1 November 1937) is an English former footballer who spent most of his career playing for Liverpool and went on to become a manager. Playing career Liverpool Melia joined the Reds straight from St. Anthony's School as a 15-year-old, when manager Don Welsh saw the potential in the young schoolboy international's feet. Melia signed professional forms on his 17th birthday, 1 November 1954. After 23 appearances for Liverpool's reserve team, Melia made his début aged 18 on 17 December 1955 at Anfield in a 2nd Division fixture against Nottingham Forest. The visitors came up against an in form Billy Liddell who scored a hat-trick in the 5–2 victory, Jimmy also scored his first goal for the club in the 48th minute, John Evans got the other. Ted Bates (footballer)
Edric Thornton Bates MBE (3 May 1918 – 28 November 2003) was a former Southampton F.C. player, manager, director and president which earned him the sobriquet ''Mr. Southampton''. Ted was the son of Eddie Bates, who played cricket for Yorkshire and Glamorgan and football for Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United. He was the grandson of Billy Bates who was one of the finest all-rounders for England in the early years of international cricket.
