History The school's name Germantown comes from the history of German settlement in Gluckstadt, the community that it was built in. Germantown High School is one of five public high schools in Madison County, Mississippi. The school was launched in August 2011 as part of the Madison County School District, one of the fastest-growing school districts in the state of Mississippi. Gluckstadt, Mississippi
Gluckstadt is a city in Madison County, Mississippi, United States. It was a census-designated place and unincorporated community until the municipal incorporation of the City of Gluckstadt became effective in June 2021. The city is located along Interstate 55 in south central Madison County, between the cities of Canton and Madison. It is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Gluckstadt was established in June 1905 by several German Catholic families from Klaasville, Lake County, Indiana. The community's name translated into English means "Lucky Town." There is also a town in Germany that has the name Glückstadt. Each year, a German Festival is held in Gluckstadt on the grounds of St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) is the official sanctioning body of all public and some private junior high and high school academic and athletic competitions in the state of Mississippi. Holmes Community College is a public community college headquartered in Goodman, Mississippi. It also has campuses in Grenada; Ridgeland; and Goodman, the location of the main or original campus. Holmes has satellite campuses in Attala, Webster, and Yazoo counties as well. Ridgeland, Mississippi
Ridgeland is a city in Madison County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 24,047 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area. History In 1805, the Choctaw Indian Agency, headed by Silas Dinsmoor, was located in what is now known as Ridgeland. There is also a neighborhood called Dinsmor in Ridgeland. The structure was then called Turner Brashear's Stand until about 1850. It was adapted for use as a hotel named the King's Inn.
