Germaine Bazzle
Germaine Bazzle (born March 28, 1932) is a jazz vocalist from New Orleans. Background Bazzle was born in New Orleans in 1932 and is from the Seventh Ward, New Orleans, Seventh Ward. She grew up in a musical family and began playing the piano by ear at a young age. Her formal musical education began at the age of twelve at the Xavier Junior School of Music. Her musical influences include Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billy Eckstine, Billy Eckstein. Career After graduating from the Xavier University of Louisiana Bazzle worked as a teacher, including as choir and music appreciation at Xavier Prep. She retired from teaching in 2008. Since graduating from university Bazzle has been a performing musician. Wynton Marsalis
Wynton Learson Marsalis (born October 18, 1961) is an American trumpeter, composer, teacher, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. He has promoted classical and jazz music, often to young audiences. Marsalis has won nine Grammy Awards, and his ''Blood on the Fields'' was the first jazz composition to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. He is the only musician to win a Grammy Award in both jazz and classical during the same year. Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals.
