Gerard Smith (Gaelic Footballer)
Gerard Smith (born 1994) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Lavey and the Cavan county team. Playing career Club Smith has played with Lavey from underage level. He has yet to win a championship medal at senior level. Inter-county Minor and U-21 On 17 July 2011, Smith lined out for the Cavan minor team in the Ulster final against Armagh. Smith scored a point in the 0–12 to 1–6 victory. He joined the county Under-21 team in 2013. On 10 April, Smith lined out at wing forward in the Ulster Final against Donegal. Smith scored two points in the 0–13 to 1–6 win. On 20 April, Smith played in the All-Ireland semi-final against Cork, where Cavan suffered a one-point defeat. Lavey GFC (Cavan)
Lavey are a Gaelic football club from County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated with Cavan GAA. The parish of Lavey (formerly also transcribed as "Lavay" or "Lowey"; from the Gaelic "Leamhach", a place producing elm trees") is in the barony of Upper Loughtee, County Cavan, between Stradone and Ballyjamesduff, near Virginia. History Lavey won the Cavan Junior Football Championship for the very first time in 1950, but the final wasn't played until 1951. Later the same year, the club won the Cavan Senior Football Championship for the only time in the club's history. The club won the Cavan Intermediate Football Championship for the first time in 2009, beating Cootehill in the final. Their year didn't end there, and wins over Kinawley in the quarter-final and Fanad Gaels in the semi-final sent Lavey into the final of the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship. 2022 Tailteann Cup Final
The 2022 Tailteann Cup Final was the inaugural final of the Tailteann Cup and the culmination of the 2022 Tailteann Cup. The match was played at Croke Park in Dublin on 9 July 2022, between Cavan and Westmeath. Westmeath won the match on a scoreline of 2–14 to 1–13. Tailteann Cup
The Tailteann Cup is a second tier Gaelic football championship competition held annually since 2022 and organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is contested by those county teams who do not qualify for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and the winner is awarded the Tailteann Cup. The name 'Tailteann' comes from the ancient Tailteann Games. Ulster Minor Football Championship
The Ulster Minor Football Championship is the Minor "knockout" competition in the game of Gaelic football played in the province of Ulster in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Ulster Council. The trophy for the winning side is The Liam Murray Cup. The competition began in 1930, with Armagh winning during the inaugural year. Ulster Under-21 Football Championship
The Ulster GAA Football Under-20 Championship, known simply as the Ulster Under-20 Championship, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county football competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in the province of Ulster. The championship was contested as the Ulster Under-21 Championship between 1963 and 2016 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2018. It is sponsored by EirGrid. Ulster Senior Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Football Championship is an inter-county competition for Gaelic football teams in the province of Ulster. It is organised by the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and begins in early May. The final is usually played on the third Sunday in July. All nine Ulster counties participate. It is regarded as hardest to win of the four provincial football championships.
