Georgy Balakshin
Georgy Ruslanovich Balakshin (russian: Георгий Русланович Балакшин; born March 6, 1980 in Antonovka, near Nyurba, Sakha Republic) is an Olympic boxer from Russia best known for winning the European title three times. Career Balakshin won the gold medal 2002 and defended the crown at the 2004 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Pula. He participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics for his native Russia. There he was stopped in the quarterfinals of the Flyweight (51 kg) division by Cuba's eventual winner Yuriorkis Gamboa Toledano. In 2005 he was part of the Russian team that won the 2005 Boxing World Cup. 2006 he once again won the European title. At the World championships 2007 he beat Frenchman Jérôme Thomas but lost to eventual winner Rau'shee Warren. At the 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships he won silver. Boxing At The Summer Olympics
Boxing has been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since its introduction to the program at the 1904 Summer Olympics, except for the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, because Swedish law banned the sport at the time. Jitender Kumar (born 18 July 1988) is an Indian flyweight boxer. He won the bronze medal in the flyweight category at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He represented India at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Career At the 2006 Junior World Championships, he lost to future (2007) seniors world champion Sergey Vodopyanov. Mirat Sarsembayev (born July 13, 1986) is a Kazakhs, Kazakh former professional boxer who competed from 2009 to 2010. As an amateur boxing, amateur, Sarsembayev won a bronze medal at the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships and represented Kazakhstan at the 2008 Olympics as a flyweight. The flyweight boxing competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens was held from 17 to 28 August at Peristeri Olympic Boxing Hall. This is limited to those boxers weighing between 49 and 52 kilograms. Competition format Like all Olympic boxing events, the competition was a straight single-elimination tournament. This event consisted of 28 boxers who have qualified for the competition through various tournaments held in 2003 and 2004. Boxing at the 2004 Summer Olympics took place in the Peristeri Olympic Boxing Hall. The event was only open to men and bouts were contested over four rounds of two minutes each. Five judges scored the fighters in real time and the boxer with the most points at the end was the winner. Three days before the Games opening ceremony the International Olympic Committee announced that Kenyan boxer David Munyasia had tested positive for cathine and has been excluded from the event.
