Georgios Papagiannis
Georgios Papagiannis (Greek: Γιώργος Παπαγιάννης; born July 3, 1997) is a Greek professional basketball player and the team captain for Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and the EuroLeague. Born in Marousi, Athens, Greece, he is a 7 ft 2 in (2.20 m) tall center, with a 7 ft 6 in (2.29 m) wingspan. His nicknames are "PG", "Big Papa" and "Big George". He is also a member of the senior National Team of Greece. He was selected 13th overall in the 2016 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns, before having his draft rights traded to the Sacramento Kings. Early years and high school career Papagiannis was born in Marousi, a northern suburb of Athens, Greece, and spent his early years in Megara, in the western region of Athens. EuroBasket 2017
EuroBasket 2017 was the 40th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe and held between 31 August and 17 September 2017. Beginning from 2017, the continental championships take place every four years with a similar system of qualification as for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Like the previous edition, the tournament was co-hosted by four countries. Games in the group stage were held in Turkey, Finland, Israel and Romania. The knock-out phase was played in Istanbul, Turkey. Slovenia won their first-ever tournament after defeating Serbia 93–85 in the final. Spain won the bronze medal by beating Russia with the same result. The FIBA U16 European Championship, previously known as the FIBA Europe Championship for Cadets, is a youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1971 edition. Through the 2003 edition, it was held every second year, but since the 2004 edition onward, it is held every year. HEBA Greek All Star Game
The HEBA Greek All-Star Game, also known as the EKO Greek All-Star Game for sponsorship reasons, is the All-Star Game of the HEBA (Greek: ΕΣΑΚΕ) Greek professional basketball association for men. It was founded and organized by Gus Sarianides. The men's all-star game has most often been played in a format featuring the Greek All-Stars, versus the Rest of the World All-Stars. There is also a men's slam dunk competition, and a men's 3-point shootout competition. The Greek Basketball Super Cup or Greek Basket League Super Cup is the top-tier level professional basketball national super cup competition in Greece.
