Georgina Geikie
Georgina Geikie (born 6 December 1984) is a British sport shooter who competed for Great Britain in the 2012 Summer Olympics. She has won two bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games. Early life Geikie was born in Okehampton, Devon. She studied for a degree in Product Design at Cardiff University. Sporting Career At the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia, Geikie teamed up with Julia Lydall to win the bronze medal in the women's 10 meters air pistol pairs behind gold medallists Dina Aspandiyarova and Lalita Yauhleuskaya of Australia and silver medallists Joseline Lee Yean Cheah and Bibiana Pei Chin Ng from Malaysia. In 2008 she set a new British Finals Record for Women's Air Pistol of 485.6. The previous record had stood for sixteen years. Lalita Yauhleuskaya
Lalita Yauhleuskaya (born 31 December 1963 in Sokol, Russia) is a professional sporting shooter who won a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney representing Belarus and currently represents Australia in international competition. Yauhleuskaya began competitive shooting at age 13. In 1986, representing the Soviet Union, she finished 5th in the women's 10 metre air pistol at the ISSF World Shooting Championships in Suhl, Germany. Ten years later she was selected in the Belarusian team for the Atlanta Olympics where she placed 8th in the 10m air pistol. Four years later she picked up her bronze medal in the women's 25 metre pistol at the Sydney Olympics. She became an Australian citizen after the Sydney Olympics and represented her new country in Athens and Beijing. 2012 Summer Olympics Torch Relay
The 2012 Summer Olympics torch relay was run from 19 May until 27 July, prior to the London 2012 Summer Olympics. The torch bearer selection process was announced on 18 May 2011. As well as touring the United Kingdom the schedule included the three crown dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, and also the Republic of Ireland. Organization The traditional lighting ceremony took place on 10 May at the Temple of Hera, Olympia, home of the Ancient Olympic Games. The torch travelled around Greece, arriving at the Panathinaiko Stadium in Athens on 17 May for the handover ceremony. The UK torch relay lasted 70 days, with 66 evening celebrations. Olympic Flame
The Olympic flame is a symbol used in the Olympic movement. It is also a symbol of continuity between ancient and modern games. Several months before the Olympic Games, the Olympic flame is lit at Olympia, Greece. This ceremony starts the Olympic torch relay, which formally ends with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. The flame then continues to burn in the cauldron for the duration of the Games, until it is extinguished during the Olympic closing ceremony. The Tindle Group is a British multimedia company operating regional newspapers and radio stations across the British Isles. It publishes over 200 local newspapers in the UK, a number of which are over 100 years old. The company is based in Farnham, Surrey, under CEO Danny Cammiade. It is owned by the Tindle family.
