Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Baseball
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team represents the Georgia Institute of Technology in NCAA Division I college baseball. Along with most other Georgia Tech athletic teams, the baseball team participates in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Yellow Jackets play their home games in Russ Chandler Stadium and they are currently coached by Danny Hall. History Baseball is a very successful sport at Georgia Tech, where it is one of the premier baseball teams in the NCAA. Georgia Tech baseball is notable for its high-scoring offenses and stout defenses. Before Tech had its own baseball field, it played at Brisbine Park. The team's success is guided by head coach Danny Hall. Danny Hall has coached Tech since 1994 and has posted 1,039 wins over that span. Atlantic Coast Conference
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference located in the eastern United States. Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, the ACC's fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I. 1994 College World Series
The 1994 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was played at the end of the 1994 NCAA Division I baseball season to determine the national champion of college baseball. The tournament concluded with eight teams competing in the College World Series, a double-elimination tournament in its forty eighth year. Eight regional competitions were held to determine the participants in the final event. Each region was composed of six teams, resulting in 48 teams participating in the tournament at the conclusion of their regular season, and in some cases, after a conference tournament. The forty-eighth tournament's champion was Oklahoma, coached by Larry Cochell. The Most Outstanding Player was Chip Glass of Oklahoma. Jim Morris (baseball Coach)
Jim Morris (born February 20, 1950) is the former head College baseball, baseball coach at the Miami Hurricanes baseball, University of Miami and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Georgia Tech. His teams qualified for NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, NCAA Regionals for 32 consecutive years, 23 at Miami and nine at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Georgia Tech. Morris won national championships in 1999 and 2001, and earned National Coach of the Year honors in both seasons. Early career Morris began his coaching career as an assistant at Appalachian State Mountaineers, Appalachian State in 1975. In 1976, he accepted the challenge of building, from scratch, a baseball program at Atlanta's DeKalb Community College. Bobby Dodd
Robert Lee Dodd (November 11, 1908 – June 21, 1988) was an American college football player and coach, college baseball coach, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Georgia Tech from 1945 to 1966, compiling a record of 165–64–8. His teams won consecutive Southeastern Conference (SEC) title in 1951 and 1952, and his 1952 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team won the 1953 Sugar Bowl and was recognized as a national champion by a number of selectors though they finished second behind Michigan State in both major polls. Dodd was also Georgia Tech's head baseball coach from 1932 to 1939, tallying a mark of 43–64–2, and the school's athletic director from 1950 until 1976.
