State Route 354 (SR 354) is a , arc-shaped state highway located entirely within Harris County in the west-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It starts out in a north-northeasterly direction and curves to a westerly direction. This highway was built in the early 1960s, on the same alignment as it travels today. Route description SR 354 begins at an intersection with SR 116 in Pine Mountain Valley. It continues northward, ascending the Pine Mountain Range. Then, it begins traveling to the north-northeast and enters F. D. Roosevelt State Park prior to meeting Georgia State Route 190 on top of the mountain ridge at a historic bridge built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Civilian Conservation Corps
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a voluntary government work relief program that ran from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed, unmarried men ages 18–25 and eventually expanded to ages 17–28. The CCC was a major part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal that supplied manual labor jobs related to the conservation and development of natural resources in rural lands owned by federal, state, and local governments. The CCC was designed to supply jobs for young men and to relieve families who had difficulty finding jobs during the Great Depression in the United States Robert Fechner was the first director of this agency, succeeded by James McEntee following Fechner's death. The largest enrollment at any one time was 300,000. Pine Mountain is a town in Harris and Meriwether counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,304, up from 1,141 at the 2000 census. The Harris County portion of Pine Mountain is part of the Columbus, GA- AL Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the small portion that extends into Meriwether County is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs- Roswell Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Pine Mountain Range is a long ridge in Meriwether County, Georgia, Harris County, Georgia, and Talbot County, Georgia. The highest altitudes in all three of these west Georgia counties can be found along the range. The Pine Mountain Range is part of a larger geological feature known as the Pine Mountain terrane, which extends into eastern Alabama. The ridge in Georgia exceeds in elevation for a distance of about . These are the highest elevations at so southerly a latitude in the eastern half of the continental United States. State Route 116 (SR 116) is a state highway that runs west-to-east through portions of Harris and Talbot counties in the west-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Route description SR 116 begins at an intersection with SR 219, west of Hamilton, in Harris County. This intersection also marks the southern terminus of SR 103.
