Georgia State Route 103 Spur (Columbus)
State Route 103 (SR 103) is a state highway in the west-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway travels from a point northwest of Mulberry Grove northwest to West Point. The highway used to travel through Muscogee, Chattahoochee, and Marion counties, but was truncated through Fort Benning. Its former path was redesignated as parts of SR 137 Spur, SR 357 and SR 219. Route description SR 103 begins at an intersection with SR 219 northwest of Mulberry Grove, in Harris County. Past this intersection, the roadway continues as SR 116. SR 103 travels to the west-southwest, and then curves to the north. Just before an intersection with the southern terminus of Pine Lake Road, it begins to curve to the northwest. The National Highway System (NHS) is a network of strategic highways within the United States, including the Interstate Highway System and other roads serving major airports, ports, military bases, rail or truck terminals, railway stations, pipeline terminals and other strategic transport facilities. The Columbus, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau and colloquially known as the Chattahoochee Valley, is an area consisting of six counties in Georgia and one county in Alabama, anchored by the city of Columbus. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 296,506 (though a July 1, 2016 estimate placed the population at 308,755). Spur Route
A spur route is a short road forming a branch from a longer, more important road such as a freeway, Interstate Highway, or motorway. A bypass or beltway should not be considered a true spur route as it typically reconnects with another or the same major road. Canada In the province of Ontario, most spur routes are designated as A or B, such as Highway 17A, or 7B. A stands for "Alternate Route", and usually links a highway to a town's central core or main attraction, while B stands for "Business Route" or "Bypass", but are used when a main highway is routed around a town and away from its former alignment. Pine Mountain is a town in Harris and Meriwether counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,304, up from 1,141 at the 2000 census. State Route 41 (SR 41) is a state highway that runs south-to-north through portions of Calhoun, Randolph, Terrell, Webster, Marion, Talbot, Meriwether, and Coweta counties in the southwestern and west-central parts of the U.S. state of Georgia. The route connects the Morgan area to Moreland, via Buena Vista, Manchester, Warm Springs, and Greenville. Route description SR 41 begins at an intersection with SR 45 (North Bermuda Street) just north of Morgan, in Calhoun County. Cusseta, Georgia
Cusseta ( ) is a city in Chattahoochee County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Columbus, Georgia-Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 11,267 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Chattahoochee County, with which it shares a consolidated city-county government. Despite this, Cusseta is not coterminous with the county; it remains a geographically distinct municipality within the county. History Chattahoochee County was created by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on February 13, 1854. It was formed from portions of Muscogee and Marion counties and named for the river that forms its western boundary. The act appointed five commissioners to choose a site for the county seat, which they named Cusseta to commemorate the Creek Indian town that used to exist nearby.
