Georgia Godwin
Georgia Godwin (born 28 October 1997) is an Australian artistic gymnast. She is the 2022 Commonwealth Games all-around and vault champion and the team, uneven bars and balance beam silver-medalist. She is also the 2018 Commonwealth Games all-around silver medalist and the team and uneven bars bronze medalist. She represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was the third reserve for the all-around final. She is also a two-time World Cup silver medalist. Early life Georgia Godwin was born on 28 October 1997 in Southport, Queensland. She has Japanese heritage on her mother's side of the family. She began gymnastics when she was three years old, and was also involved in tennis and athletics as a child. Australia competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mary-Anne Monckton
Mary-Anne Monckton (born 16 November 1994) is an Australian artistic gymnast. She won two silver medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has represented Australia at three world championships (2011, 2014, 2015). In 2020, she was the first of several former gymnasts to speak out about a "toxic" culture within the country's elite programme. Personal life Monckton first took up gymnastics because her cousin Melissa did it. At first, she didn't like the sport, but her cousin was persistent in taking her because she had too much energy. Larrissa Miller
Larrissa Miller (born 12 July 1992) is an artistic gymnast who represented Australia at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. She made her Australian Senior National Championship debut in 2008, and went on to compete at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Emily Little (born 29 March 1994) is an Australian artistic gymnast. She won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the team women's artistic gymnastic events. Madelaine Leydin (born July 28, 1997) is an Australian gymnast. She won Australia's National Senior All-Around title in 2013. She was part of Australia's team for the 2015 World Championships. In 2017 Leydin began competing for the Arizona Wildcats in the United States. Early life Leydin was born in Mebourne, Victoria to parents Scott and Lisa. Leydin has one younger sister. 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships was the forty-sixth edition of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. The competition was held from 23 October – 1 November 2015 at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, United Kingdom, and is the first time that Scotland hosted the event. The competition served as a qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Floor Exercise
In gymnastics, the floor is a specially prepared exercise surface, which is considered an apparatus. It is used by both male and female gymnasts. The gymnastics event performed on the floor is called floor exercise. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is FX. A spring floor is used in all of gymnastics to provide more bounce, and also help prevent potential injuries to lower extremity joints of gymnasts due to the nature of the apparatus, which includes the repeated pounding required to train it. Balance Beam
The balance beam is a rectangular artistic gymnastics apparatus and an event performed using the apparatus. Both the apparatus and the event are sometimes simply referred to as "beam". The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is BB. The beam is a small, thin beam which is typically raised from the floor on a leg or stand at both ends. Uneven Bars
The uneven bars or asymmetric bars is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. It is made of a steel frame. The bars are made of fiberglass with wood coating, or less commonly wood. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is UB or AB, and the apparatus and event are often referred to simply as "bars". The bars are placed at different heights and widths, allowing the gymnast to transition from bar to bar. A gymnast usually adds white chalk to the hands so that they can grip the bar better.
