Georges Saad Abi Younes
Georges M. Saad Abi Younes, OLM (born 18 April 1948 in Hammana, Lebanon) is the current eparch of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Our Lady of the Martyrs of Lebanon in Mexico. Life Georges Abi Younes joined in 1967 to the Lebanese Maronite Order. On January 17, 1970, he professed his perpetual religious vows, and on July 3, 1977 received his ordination to the priesthood, became chaplain of his religious order. Younes studied from 1970 literature, philosophy and theology and graduated in 1977 with a diploma of bachelor's degree. Until 1984 he worked as a secretary at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and at the same time as an active pastor. Lebanese Maronite Order
The Baladites, formally known as the Lebanese Maronite Order (; abbreviated OLM), is a monastic order among the Levant-based, Catholic Maronite Church, which from the beginning has been specifically a monastic Church. The order was founded in 1694 in the Monastery of Mart Moura, Ehden, Lebanon, by three Maronite young men from Aleppo, Syria, under the patronage of Patriarch Estephan El Douaihy (1670–1704). The Aleppian monks of Aleppo, a city in present Syria resulted from a split with the Baladites. Pope Clement XIV sanctioned this separation in 1770. The Maronite Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal (in Latin: Eparchia Sancti Maronis Marianopolitana Maronitarum) is a Maronite Church ecclesiastical territory or eparchy of the Catholic Church in Canada. In 2014 there were 87,900 baptized. It is currently ruled by Eparch Paul Marwan Tabet. Territory and statistics Its episcopal see is located in Montréal, Quebec, where is located the Saint-Maron Cathedral. Its jurisdiction embraces all Maronite Catholic faithful of the Maronite Church in Canada. It is directly subject to the Holy See in Rome, not part of any ecclesiastical province. Joseph Mohsen Béchara (19 March 1935 – 9 June 2020) was a Maronite archbishop of the Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Cyprus and the Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Antelias. Life Joseph Mohsen Béchara received on 19 April 1963 the sacrament of ordination to the priesthood. On 4 April 1986, the was appointed by Pope John Paul II Archbishop of Archeparchy of Cyprus with headquarters in Nicosia. Roland Aboujaoudé
Roland Aboujaoudé (7 September 1930 – 2 May 2019) was a Lebanese Catholic Maronite eparch of the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch. Life Roland Aboujaoudé was born on 7 September 1930 in Jal-Edib, Lebanon. He was ordained priest on 25 April 1959. On 12 July 1975, Aboujaoudé was appointed patriarchal vicar of Antioch and titular bishop of Arca in Phoenicia dei Maroniti. He was ordained bishop on 23 August 1975 by the hands of the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch Cardinal Anthony Peter Khoraish and his co-consecrators were Elie Farah, Archeparch of Cyprus and Joseph Merhi, MLM, Eparch of Cairo. Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir
Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir ('; ar, الكاردينال مار نصر الله بطرس صفير; la, Victor Petrus Sfeir; 15 May 1920 – 12 May 2019) was the patriarch of Lebanon's largest Christian body, the Maronite Church, an Eastern Catholic Church in communion with the Holy See. This is a list of the Maronite patriarchs of Antioch and all the East, the primate of the Maronite Church, one of the Eastern Catholic Churches. Starting with Paul Peter Massad in 1854, after becoming patriarch of the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch, they assume the name "Peter" (Boutros in Arabic, بطرس ), after the traditional first Bishop of Antioch, St. Peter, who was also the head of the Apostles. A vicar general (previously, archdeacon) is the principal deputy of the bishop of a diocese for the exercise of administrative authority and possesses the title of local ordinary. As vicar of the bishop, the vicar general exercises the bishop's Ordinary (church officer), ordinary executive (government), executive power over the entire diocese and, thus, is the highest official in a diocese or other particular church after the diocesan bishop or his equivalent in canon law. The title normally occurs only in Western Christian churches, such as the Latin Church of the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion.
