Georges Grey
Georges Grey, born Georges-Jean-Joseph Gacon (1911–1954) was a French actor. In 1948 he starred in the film '' The Lame Devil'' under Sacha Guitry. Biography He studied engineering at university, before going to the Cavalry School of Saumur. He then went to Paris to begin a career as an actor, where he was noticed by Sacha Guitry who began giving him roles in his films. He toured with Marcel Pagnol and Gilles Grangier later on in life. He died of tuberculosis in a sanatorium on April 2, 1954, in Passy. Jacques de Baroncelli (25 June 1881 – 12 January 1951) was a French film director best known for his silent films from 1915 to the late 1930s. He came from a Florence, Florentine family who had settled in Provence in the 15th century, occupying a building in the centre of Avignon then called the Baroncelli Palace (now the Palais du Roure). His father's side of the family were of Tuscany, Tuscan origin and part of the Guelphs and Ghibellines, Ghibelline tradition, and they were hereditary Marquis of Javon, Marquises of Javon. Though somewhat aristocratic, the family spoke Provençal (dialect), Provençal, which was rather controversial at a time when it was considered to be a language of the common people. The hangman's knot or hangman's noose (also known as a collar during the Elizabethan era) is a knot most often associated with its use in hanging a person. For a hanging, the knot of the rope is typically placed under or just behind the left ear, although the most effective position is just ahead of the ear, beneath the angle of the left lower jaw. The pull on the knot at the end of the drop levers the jaw and head violently up and to the right, which combines with the jerk of the rope becoming taut to wrench the upper neck vertebrae apart. This produces very rapid death, whereas the traditional position beneath the ear was intended to result in the mass of the knot crushing closed (occluding) neck arteries, causing cessation of brain circulation.
