Georges Geldner
Georg Wilhelm 'Georges' Geldner (born 7 July 1872) was a Switzerland, Swiss Association football, footballer who played for FC Basel in the 1890s. Football career During a visit to England, his brothers Roland Geldner and Max Geldner they had seen the new football game. They placed an advert in the local newspaper to arrange a meeting about founding the Football Club Basel. Max attended the founders meeting and joined the team that evening. Roland was appointed as the club's first president. Georges joined the team a few days later. Geldner trained with the team and eleven days after the club was founded the first game took place. Not much has been passed down from the first game that the FCB played on 26 November 1893. The club members met at the Landhof and played a game among themselves. Roland Geldner
Carl Maria 'Roland' Geldner (23 May 1870 – 1905) was a Swiss businessman and founder member of FC Basel. He was the club's first chairman. He was a well-known personality in the city and long-time player with the first team from the early days of football. He was a distinguished person and was the soul of the club in the early years. Football career Geldner was member of the Basel rowing club and during a visit to England with his younger brothers, Max Geldner and Georges Geldner, had seen the new football game. Max Geldner (25 March 1875 - 17 July 1958) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel. He played as striker or as midfielder. He was a well-known personality in the cities business world. Landhof
The Landhof was a sports stadium in the district Basel-Wettstein in Kleinbasel, Basel. It was the former and first home stadium of FC Basel. It is mentioned for the first time in a chronicle in the second half of the 18th century as a ''nice summer house with beautiful property''. The best known owner of the manor was , a member of the Merian family. He was Mayor of Basel and Landammann of Switzerland (highest office at the time). In 1892 the granddaughter of Merian-Iselin sold the Landhof to a certain Katharina Ehrler-Wittich. Charles Volderauer
Charles (Charlie) Volderauer (30 May 1871 – 6 October 1931) was a Swiss businessman. He was founder member of the club FC Basel, played various matches for them as defender, was voted into the board of directors and was the club's president for more than three years. Football career Volderauer was one of the founders members of FC Basel on 15 November 1893. Between the years 1893 and 1899 he played at least 33 test matches as defender without scoring a goal. Most of these games were before the Swiss Serie A was founded. The first edition of the official Swiss championship season 1898–99 was played as a knock out competition, divided into three regional groups, an east (region Zürich), a central (regional north-west Switzerland) and west group (Romandy).
