George West, TX
George West is a city in Live Oak County, Texas, United States, and named for cattle rancher George Washington West. The population was 2,445 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Live Oak County. George West was named the "storytelling capital of Texas" in 2005 by the Texas Senate; and it hosts the ''George West Storyfest'', a festival that features storytelling, cowboy poetry, and music. Numerous ranches surround George West. The Texas author and folklorist J. Frank Dobie was born in Live Oak County near George West in 1888. Cattle (''Bos taurus'') are large, domesticated, cloven-hooved, herbivores. They are a prominent modern member of the subfamily Bovinae and the most widespread species of the genus ''Bos''. Pleasanton is a city in Atascosa County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,934 at the 2010 census. Pleasanton's official motto is "The City of Live Oaks and Friendly Folks." It is part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pleasanton honors its cowboy heritage with the "Mr. Cowboy" sculpture in front of City Hall and across from the giant oak tree downtown. Cyndi Taylor Krier
Cyndi Taylor Krier (born July 12, 1950) is an American lawyer and politician. Early life and career Krier was born in Beeville, Texas, and spent much of her childhood in Dinero, Texas. She attended San Antonio College and Trinity University before ultimately enrolling at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a degree in journalism in 1971. Krier was involved with the Republican Party. She received her J.D. degree from University of Texas School of Law in 1975 and was admitted to the Texas bar. Krier worked on the staff of U.S. Senator John Tower and Counselor to the President Anne Armstrong. She became a private attorney in San Antonio, Texas. Political career Krier successfully ran for a San Antonio area seat in the Texas Senate in 1984. In the 69th Texas Legislature from 1985 to 1987, she was the only female senator. There are 31 members of the Senate, representing single-member districts across the U.S. state of Texas, with populations of approximately 806,000 per constituency, based on the 2010 U.S. Census.
